WHAT HUMANITY FORGOT

The Sun is out! It has been under the clouds for the last few days. The room I am in, is filled with light, when the Sun is out in the Morning. It has two large Windows facing East and one facing North. The house is not quite built on the compass. The road used to go right in front of the house and the house was built to be square with the road. The North side of the house actually cants slightly Eastward.

Jamie pointed me to a website the other day, SOUL HIKER. It contained an article written by Gilbert Ross titled. "The 12 Biggest Life Secrets Forgotten by Mankind" I will list them as they appear. He comments on each one. Any comments that appear will be mine, although, I am sure, they will sometimes mirror his.

1. We forgot our place in the natural world:

We have done everything to distance ourselves from the Earth. The more we are "civilized", the more we live on extensions from Nature. We have forgot how to live within, or even acknowledge the natural life cycles and rhythms of the Earth. We have treated the Earth as something to be exploited and conquered. We have used our technology to further our greed and exploitation.

2. We forgot our connection to life and the cosmos:

Because of our detachment from Nature, we forgot how deeply we are connected to it and how profoundly we are interconnected with all of creation.

3. We forgot our ancient wisdom:

With the pursuit of knowledge, through the rational mind, we lost our intuitive knowledge. We lost the knowledge accrued by the opening of the heart. All the folk tales and lore that carried the ancient wisdom were lost.

4. We forgot our path and our dreams:

We quit listening to our inner self. We forgot the dream we had for being here. We forgot we have the power to create the dream. We no longer know how to awake and become co-creators.

5. We forgot our purpose:

We became overwhelmed by the chatter of our separate mind [the mind without the heart]. We could no longer listen to our inner being. We got caught up in the illusion of consensus reality and lost sight of our authenticity.

6. We forgot that everything is love:

The most significant separation was losing the knowledge that, All is Love. Everything is energy and all energy is love. To quote Gilbert Ross "This is perhaps the deepest mystery of all that only some seers came to understand it as an all-embracing truth."

7. We forgot to forgive:

Because of our separation we forgot to forgive. We forgot we were all in this together and there are no victims or perpetrators. Forgiveness reminds us of our oneness.

8. We forgot to be free:

The world we live in does not know freedom. It is only a concept. We were raised to serve a culture completely beholden to people in power. We are essentially slaves. We are learning to live without fear or guilt. We, then, will see what freedom is. We need to remind ourselves every day, "We are free."

9. We forgot our real power:

Fear has kept us locked into the illusion. We forgot we are the creators of the illusion and can have the world we want.

10. We forgot our lessons from history:

We are stuck in a pattern of greed and self-destruction. We have not been able to learn from our own history.

11.  We forgot to be simple:

We have made human life complex. We got caught up in the glitter of "civilization" . We forgot that life is quite simple. We, also, lost the power of simplicity. Simplicity is discarding all the clutter, that keep us from seeing our purpose, and the purpose of life itself.

12.  We forgot to trust, believe and wonder:

Here I will quote Gilbert Ross. "We lost our enchantment with the world. We forgot to be wondered by the miracle of life. We do not stand in awe of the majesty of it anymore. Our skepticism and cynical view of the world has made us lose trust in ourselves and the magic of the universe. We forgot how to believe. This is perhaps the biggest tragedy of all. It weakened our spirit and impoverished our soul."

Except where quoted the comments are mine or a paraphrase. His comments are longer and it would be worthwhile to visit the website and see the original.

Jamie referred me to this list, as she thought it would give me ideas for my blog. These are rich ideas and I could easily right a blog on each of the twelve points and I might.

Well I need to get at the dishes. Hold your light high. Remember, we are creating the world.

Love and Peace,  Gregg
