The change in the world will come from the bottom up. We can't wait for some great leader to show us the way. We have had masters and teachers all along who have pointed the way. In fact in our own time, we have had many teachers who helped us along the path. One of them just died, Wayne Dyer, certainly a teacher of significance. Many have been blessed by his teachings and he will be missed. There have been, and are, many teachers who point to the light.
The people who save the world will not be the Dali Lamas, as great as they are; we, you and I, are the only ones who can save the world. Sure we are a long way from being able to 'live in the moment'. We have yet to 'stop time'. We are distracted during meditations and our minds drift to what we should have for supper. We still fight with our family members and we catch ourselves judging more than we would like.
But like it or not, we are it. We are the ones who can bring this world to a sane reality. We are the ones who can look on the world with love in our hearts; as Wayne Dyer said, "See the light in others and treat them as if that is all there is." We have the intent. We see the direction we want to go in. We dare to dream of a sane world.
Don't look back at how we were. Don't even dwell on your faults at this moment. Sure we have a ways to go. Sure, some people still irritate us. Sure, we are sometimes greedy, jealous, angry, nasty, judgmental, etc. But we catch ourselves. We have the intent to love all the time. We have our moments, when we feel great love flowing from us, and to us.
We don't need to feel overwhelmed by the task. We are not doing it individually. We are One. We can think of ourselves, as great beings of light, who have covered our light over with ego concerns. We have shaded our light with fears for ourselves, with worries, judgements and a whole variety of ego attributes. We have been uncovering the light by focusing on love and giving up these ego preoccupations. We have made great headway. Every time we remind ourselves, to see the light in our neighbor, our own light shines through our disguise more brightly.
The more light we see in others; the more our light shines. We are past the tipping point. There are more people attuned to the light than there are people still in the shadows.
Of course, we will see some positive change occurring at the top; but the real change will happen with us and the people around us. We don't want to live in insanity any longer. Couples, families and communities are emerging from the darkness; this puts pressure vertically and influences choices in leadership.
We will get discouraged. That is okay. We don't need to wallow in it. We can pick ourselves up and smile brightly at the next person we see. We will change the world with our smiles. We will change the world with our laughter. Know, that you and I, are the only folks who can change the world; we are doing it.
Love and Peace, Gregg
