We finished tilling the garden, yesterday, for the things that need planting now. We won't have to do anymore tilling till the end of May when the tender plants, like tomatoes, go in. Fencing the garden proceeds slowly. We have the gate up and we will pound in metal posts for the most part. We will put in wooden posts for the corners. It will be nice to have a deer free garden, for a change. Of course, the fence will, also, keep the chickens out. We have been able to train most of the chickens to stay out of the garden, but it takes constant vigilance. It is not good for our marital relationship, either, because when they are in the garden they are my chickens. I need to own up to some responsibility, as I have been asked [begged and cajoled] to do something about the chickens getting into the garden and I always convinced myself that my method of chasing them out was sufficient. There were only four or five hens that persisted in going in. As you might know, it only takes one hen to make a mess of a newly planted bed.
We have four geese setting. If they have a successful hatch, we will have more geese than we need. Young geese are very easy to sell, so we will have no difficulty getting rid of the surplus. We don't make use of them for food as much as I would like. We do love roast goose; we don't particularly like plucking them. Perhaps this year; I would love to have goose for Christmas.
Have you noticed or sensed any changes in your world? I have noted a great change in attitude in the twenty to thirty age group. I don't mean they have been changing. Although, they may have; I mean their attitudes are a break from the earlier generations. They have much less prejudice. They are willing to accept people as they are, without reference to skin color, religion or sexuality. I do run into exceptions, but on the whole, this group is far freer than earlier generations.
Once you realize that the news is a managed "unreality show"; you see how bizarre it is. Of all the tumultuous changes that are occurring in the world, the main stream media spends its allotted time covering a sex scandal [The Secret Service] that is a non-event. Prostitution is legal in Columbia. They were on their own time. The president hadn't arrived yet. What is going on? Their behavior might have been tacky soo.................. who is throwing the stones; I hope they reinforce their glass houses. That is not the only example. In a half hour news show, there is only five or ten minutes that is worth watching. I don't know if any of it is truly informative.
I keep saying that, real news will emerge soon; and I believe it, but I get weary of waiting too. I remind myself that my main job is to shine as much light on the world, that I am capable of, and to appreciate my experience of the now. I do live in paradise. I am surrounded by the most loving people one could imagine and I lack for nothing. I would love to have the whole world join me.
I am enjoying a marvelous rainy day. I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are. Let your love show.
Love and Peace, Gregg
