Our family always got together, this evening, to make the Easter Eggs, the Bunny would bring Easter Morning. We would make them the old fashioned way. We would wrap eggs in a piece of cloth, with onion skins and colored pieces of cloth pressed to the egg. The eggs were tied up in the cloth with string. The eggs would then be boiled for several minutes. We would save cloth that we knew would give up its color to the eggs and favorite bits of cloth might last several years [one piece can be used only once]. The real magic occurred when the eggs were unwrapped and we oohed and aahed at the magnificent patterns that were transferred to the egg shell. Onion skins created a beautiful veiny pattern. As a child I knew our eggs were brought by the Easter Bunny and no other kids, on our block, received eggs like we had.
I suppose Good Friday is a sombre day for some folks. Although, I was brought up in a Catholic family, more or less devout; it was not a sombre day for us. Lent was almost over and that was reason to celebrate. Years later, it occurred to me that Jesus would not want his death to be viewed as a sacrifice. A loving God would not ordain such nonsense. The idea must have been introduced by religion, to control people through guilt. What a horrible thing! Fortunately, my family must have resisted the worst of the guilt inducement. They certainly didn't escape all of it.
In so many situations, truth is the opposite of what religion teaches. In truth our reality lies in our complete innocence; religion stresses guilt. Truth is, we are already perfect, having been created in unconditional love. We need to do nothing to realize this. Religion teaches the abomination of original sin; which tells us we are evil until we are saved, somehow. How can one discover unconditional love under such condemnation? Truth is, only love exist; all else is mis-creation.
As we are all aspects of the creator; we create individually and collectively. We exist in an illusion of mis-creation. We perceive the world according to our thoughts and thus we have this sad, old world, bereft of love. Any individual can escape the illusion and a few have. Most of us try to make the best of it. We are now at a pivotal time in our evolution where we can see that we can have a world of love. It is time to give up all that we have been taught; embrace the truth, we are all beautiful, innocent children of God. Look through the eyes of innocence. See only Love. Only Love exist.
Read or re-read my last message, titled Wednesday. I will expand on it.
