Our world will be different on Laughing Water Farm. Our daughter, Naomi, and her son, Elijah, have been living with us for over four years. Naomi has completed a nursing program at a local college and is now a Registered Nurse. I am sure they will be here for a few more months but a big change seems inevitable. We attended the pinning ceremony last night and we will have a family celebration next Saturday.
There is such amazement living with a six year old. When my children were six years old I was involved with being a Father. As a Grandfather it is different, one is less involved and more involved, at the same time. One can observe the wondrous nature of the child and appreciate the magnificent spirit shining through without the restraint of parenthood. I think, all of us, as we get older appreciate observing children more. It is strange that we live in a society where older folks are separated from children.
There are greater changes afoot for all the people of this planet. As our consciousness rises, we will feel a oneness with each other and our Mother Earth, that we haven't felt for thousands of years. The feeling of oneness will come with great joy and unimaginable peace. I know I am not at a place where I can really know this or describe it to others. Through meditation, I can find that place in my heart where all is one and, momentarily, I can feel that great joy and peace come over me. We will find that place together and experience it together.
Right now we are involved in doing Spring chores on our little piece of paradise. We have many trees in our yard. Five oaks, nine hard maples, seven or eight soft maples, a large elm, ironwoods, aspen and assorted evergreens. And I could, also, mention the pear trees, apple trees and flowering bushes of several varieties. This Winter must have been exceptionally windy. All the trees shed branches but the soft maples outdid them all. I, already, cleared many large branches and I have many smaller branches yet to pick up before I mow.
It has been an unusually slow spring. Our temperatures have hovered twenty degrees below normal on most days. We have had only a few days of normal temperatures and only twice did we have two days in a row that were normal or above. Our gardening and yard work are about the level usually seen in early April. The positive aspect of this, is that it gave Jamie a chance to finish up the woodwork on our new addition. Among Jamie's many talents is an ability to work with wood. She really loves it, although the work in our addition has been awesome. She has finished just in time to take up gardening.
I sit here today, on planet Earth, feeling that a whole new world is opening up. How much is due to the changes in our personal life and how much is the change that is occurring in the larger world, it is hard to know. But the magnificent feeling I have is probably more to do with the radiance that is emanating from all of us. I feel like hugging everybody in the world. Dare I do it?
Love and Peace, Gregg
