It is 11:05AM, February 1 on this part of planet Earth. It is Mid-Winter and 37 degrees F. The warmth this time of year is unusual, but I am not complaining. I have become less fond of Winter as I have teetered on my dotage.
I don't have a good excuse for being late blogging. I was expecting more things to happen on the world economic front that I could discuss. But no, things are slowly going down the drain; the statistics on trade show a significant slowing down of traffic in goods, some say by half, which depends on what year you use as a baseline. However, no matter how you measure it, exchange of goods is at depression levels. Somehow the economy manages to tread water and only slowly sink.
Things here, on Laughing Water Farm, are going along smoothly. We are looking at what seeds to order and we have purchased fifty broiler chicks for delivery in June. I, also, need to purchase some pullets. Our laying hens are not doing to well. We have twenty four. I like to keep about forty. Usually this time of year, twenty four laying hens will give ten or twelve eggs a day. We are getting two sometimes four. Our hens are old, some over ten years. I think we are operating a Nursing Home for these old biddies. We have gone through times when we depended on the chickens for sustenance; then I would attempt to pick out the ones that were not laying and we would have wonderful chicken and dumplings. The last few years, the chickens didn't need to fill that niche and I have been letting them die of old age. I think it is time for chicken and dumplings or a big pot of chicken soup.
I don't feel like commenting on the world situation; maybe that is why I haven't blogged. It, also, seems like I have been terribly busy. I don't think that is a reality. It seems like time flies by and I don't get what, I think, I need to get done. I need more practice living in the moment and loving every minute of it.
Throughout the day remind yourself of how wonderful you are! Love yourself and everybody around you. I will blog Friday.
Love and Peace, Gregg
Today I decided to take a week off of following the news. I think I am going to enjoy a lovely week!
