It is 7:12 AM, early for me to start
blogging. I have been up since shortly after five. Shearing day.
{Those who aren't familiar with my blog can read Mistakes Happen for
some background.} I went out last night at 11: PM and the sheep were
still not in the barn. I went out in the dark at 5:15 AM, the barn
was empty. As it got light, I observed the sheep from the living room
window. About 7, they started to move toward the barn, I was able to
close the barn door without incidence. Humph! I could have stayed in
bed and got seven hours sleep instead of five and a half. Oh well, I
will survive. The shearer is coming at 8 AM. I have a few things to
do. I will finish this blog later.
The shearing is completed for another
year. It is now 9:15 AM. Let see if I can be coherent on 5 ½ hours
sleep. I am not sure I can convince anybody that we need relearning.
It is difficult to see the power of conformity, obedience to
authority, group think, the desire to belong, worship of wealthy
people, and all the other things that shape our consciousness. We
grow up heavily influenced by parents, teachers and caregivers. Then
we have the groups we want to be accepted by. We don't want to be out
of step. We want to be accepted.
There is all the things about medicine,
science, economics and education. We can't know all about everything.
Some of us cave in to authority and believe what we are programmed to
believe. Some of us try to make decisions based on our own learning
and perception. We like to think there are some areas free from
contamination; science for example. But it isn't. Scientist have egos
like the rest of us. Money and power influence who gets grants, what
universities get them and who can do research and what research is
accepted. Scientific elitism is a serious problem. Folks who come up
with ideas, that go against the grain, of accepted belief are often
demonized. We would like to trust authority, in at least, the
sciences, but we can't. It is hard to accept, but until this present
authority crumbles, there is very little we can trust.
Can folks come together and create
communities based on what they know and experience every day? Can we
find a way to look at the Earth and the Universe with fresh eyes? Can
we give up all our stored up beliefs and see what is really there?
For a healing/learning center to work
it must be composed of folks who can do this. We do need a guide. I
would suggest our present society is based on fear. I would suggest
our emerging society be based on love. What would happen if we gave
up all our beliefs and based all our decisions on unconditional love?
What if we insisted on seeing the Earth and the Universe as creations
of Love?
In future blogs, I will take individual
aspects of our society e.g. medicine, agriculture, education, etc.
and examine why we need to relearn, things we think we know, and how
we might approach seeing differently.
Love and Peace, Gregg
