It is snowing. Nature is reminding us
that Winter is not over. We had a stretch of weather that was
Springlike, now back to reality. It is okay, we are on the downside
of Winter. One more month and we can start dreaming of Spring.
My birthday week is over. We had a good
visit with Naomi and Elijah. Friday we had a birthday dinner of roast
chicken [home grown], sweet potatoes, roast asparagus and cheese cake
for desert. Noah had to work, but he did arrive home before we
deserted the dining room table. Naomi and Jamie planned the
construction of the Ogilvie Opera House {I will have more on that in
a future blog}. All and all, a good time.
I wish I could scatter some magic dust
over the World and reassure people that things will be okay. We are
in a battle between love and fear; it is both global and individual
and it all starts with the individual. The very bad movie of
divisiveness, polarization and fear continues to play out on the
world stage. But it is just a movie; it really doesn't have any power
over us unless we get sucked into the fear theme.
We are in control and creators of our
experience. Take a vacation from the media; all of it. Let's focus on
our relationships with our family and friends. Let's practice
expanding our consciousness. Let's eschew fear thoughts. Let's
practice letting unconditional love flood our hearts and minds.
Let's get over the idea that change is
going to come from the top- down. That is not going to happen. We
need to rebuild the world from the bottom. The change will migrate
up. Families and communities need to start thinking in terms of
improving their environment. We need to listen to Nature, to guide
us, in how to best take care of ourselves. The practice of depending
on food being transported from distant places is negative on several
fronts. One: we have no idea if it is safe to eat. Two: we have no
idea if the animals or plants were raised in a respectful manner to
the environment and we have no idea if the animals had a happy life
and a dignified death. Three: the fuel used to transport goods from
distant places is wasteful and polluting. Four: it makes families and
communities dependent on a system that is inherently corrupt. Five:
factory farms are disastrous to the environment and make no genuine
economic sense. Six: raising our own food gives us a closeness to
Nature we have a hard time experiencing other ways. We hunger to
experience our Oneness with Nature.
Instead of railing against a dying and
bizarre world, we need to start building the one we want. Let us
begin by raising our own food locally. Every family of every
community can participate. Let's get started now, before an economic
collapse forces us to do so. This is the time to plan our gardens.
Order seeds, plan our plots, get the required tools if we don't have
them. Members of suburbs and cities can talk to each other; there are
places where they can plan community plots. Farmers, who have been
married to industrial agriculture, need to think about switching to a
system more favorable to the Earth and their environment.
Every moment, our minds, can choose
between fear thoughts and love. When we practice choosing love, we
begin to see it. Our world changes.
Love and Peace, Gregg
