Many of us, who have been following economic realities closely, believed that the house of cards would come down suddenly. The collapse of the economic system would leave devastation. Stoppage of deliveries, drying up of goods originating out of your particular area, etc. Grocery stores becoming bare and eventually closing. Not a pretty scenario.
At this point it seems more likely that the collapse will be more gradual. The collapse will be at the highest levels, the solution at the lowest.
Industrial agriculture will dry up because it is completely dependent on the financial system that owns it. The air is being let out of the bag at this moment.
I began this blog because I saw the need for people to get back to their roots. I thought people needed to get their hands back in the Earth and cause things to grow. Then it seemed to me, that the psychological, spiritual and philosophical reasons we became separated and continued in our separated state, needed to be addressed. Now millions of people are awakening. They realize they no longer need to be trapped in a world that isn't their creation.
We are at a moment in history where we need to take back our food supply. There is no need to wait. We live in a communication bubble that tries to convince us that we never had it better. Our food supply, our medicines, our medical system is supposedly second to none. Yet we have discovered that diseases like diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, ADHD, asthma, allergies, cancer and some forms of dementia have their roots or are greatly exacerbated by our way of eating. Many folks can make this list very long.
When did the FDA and the other units of government stop serving the people? I knew about the revolving door in the Bureau of Mining and other parts of the Department of the Interior. There has been an occasional mention of a chemical industry lobbyist getting a position in the Agricultural Department. But the FDA, weren't they above the corruption? Unfortunately no, the corporate control of government is complete. The agencies are controlled by the corporate giants they are supposed to regulate.
It is up to us nobody is going to do it for us. Give up all the nonsense you have learned about diet while being in the misinformation bubble. Our ideas about fats, cholesterol, sugars, starches all need to be re-looked at. For a beginning we need to go back to a time when unbiased research would indicate we had a better diet. As a rule of thumb we can accept that any divergence from the natural will create problems.
What do we do? We eat wholesome organic food. We stop eating any foods that have been scientifically manipulated. We learn what foods contain GMO grains. We don't buy them. We read labels, we don't buy foods that have high fructose corn sugars. When we see a long list of chemicals in the ingredients, that we don't understand, put the product back on the shelf. We need to educate ourselves. We need to educate ourselves and I say it again, we need to educate ourselves. There are many of us who have done the research and know what has to be done. Let us not hide our light under a bushel, let people know what you know.
Groups of people need to form in every community to discuss solutions to this problem. Change is not going to come from above. Although, demonstrations etc, help open peoples eyes to the problems {very important} they rarely bring change in and of themselves. It is a little like Don Quixote charging the windmill with his lance.
Our power is in our intention to change the way things are. We resolve to no longer support industrial agriculture. We resolve to no longer buy any of their products that do not appear safe. We continually research the difference. There are many, many people who are involved in this research. I live with two people who could teach a seminar in healthy foods this afternoon.
The knowledge is there. We just need the resolve. The food industry is dependent on keeping us ignorant. In this case ignorance is not bliss.
Spend a day this week looking over your farmers market. Get to know some growers. If you have Amish in your community get to know them. Talk to your friends. Talk to your neighbors. Plan next years garden.
Love and Peace, Gregg
