This has been a strange Summer on Laughing Water Farm. Sitting on the back, screened porch it appears that one is in paradise. Everything is so lush and beautiful! When you step outside you are attacked by mosquitoes that rob one of the pristine experience. We have lived here since 1975 and have never experienced such an onslaught of winged creatures as we have this year. Is it the humidity? We haven't experienced that either. However, I didn't intend to start this blog with anything that seemed like a complaint as I am committed to experience and accept anything that unfolds before me with as much joy as I am capable of in that moment.
I would like to identify the way our world is changing and suggest ways we might adapt and meet these changes. I think most of us know the world, as we have known it, will not ever be the same again and the more we try to cling to the past the more unhappiness we will create for ourselves. In every sphere of our experience the world is rapidly evolving; economically, climatically, socially, politically, and most importantly spiritually.
I believe we will welcome these changes but first there will be a period of adjustment and transition. This can be a period of excitement and expectation or it can be fraught with anxiety.
It is valuable for one to recognize the world that is passing is one the we do not want. We do not need war, famine, persecution, people's aggression on others- whether it is countries or individuals. If you stop and think a minute it will be clear this world is "barking mad" and has been throughout our recorded history.
Everyday I will discuss some aspect of the changes that are upon us and how we might best meet them.
Now I need to wash the dishes.
Peace, Gregg Gillett
