MID-WINTER

Our mid-Winter thaw is over, at least for now. It is cold and getting colder. It is not going to be a deep freeze like it was at the beginning of the month. It is forecast to get down to a few degrees below zero F in the coming week.

Our chicken debacle is over. They are all snug in their coop. All except one, a white Orpington, that was apparently caught by a great horned owl. The remains showed all the clues that the owl was the culprit. In our neighborhood, chickens are safe as long as they are locked up at night. There are day time predators, but in over forty years we encountered them only a few times.

I am sitting here with a blank mind. I don't want to write about the crumbling world. I pay little attention to it. I do know we are in a currency war. United States would like to maintain its dominate position with the dollar as the World Reserve Currency. Its value has been going up but there are signs that it is heading for the cliff.

I would like to focus on the new world that is emerging. It is difficult because we get no help from the media, all the strife and violence in the world is hyped and kept alive. The movement for peace gets little coverage. We have to look very close to notice that peace is actually growing and the violence in the world is attenuation. The groups that are fomenting violence and division are having their efforts fizzle. People of good will are determined to come together in peace.

When I focus on my friends and neighbors, I see folks that want love and peace in their lives. I don't see anybody, who wants anybody else to suffer the pain that is depicted in the crumbling world. I see some people who are confused and don't know where to put their energy and attention. The media's function, seems to be, to keep them confused. I don't see these folks choosing the strife and turmoil presented by the media. In conversation, they appear eager to accept the idea of a loving world. Nobody wants to continue the madness. Nobody, at least, but those who gain money and power from it. But, even those folks, will eventually give up their craziness.

We all want to feel loved. We all want to love. There is only, a handful of people, who have given up love for money and power. For some reason they feel too unworthy to be loved and they have accepted money and power as a substitute. In our long history they have gained dominance. There time is over. We have decided to end our confusion and retake control of our lives. We know that love is the only meaningful force. And, we will discover, that outside this illusion it is the only force there is.

At times we feel alone with our understanding, that love is everything. However, it is growing all around us. We will soon see it acknowledged everywhere.

Love is taking over.

Happy Friday!

FURTHER ADVENTURES ON LAUGHING WATER FARM

Winter has been taking a vacation. For several days, now, the temperature has reached the 30s and 40s F. It is a welcome relief. We have these January thaws often; certainly not every year, but they occur often enough that we look forward to them. A cooling down is in the forecast and it may be below zero F this weekend.

I saw five swans yesterday. It was a surprise. I take it as a message. It was comforting to see them in the middle of Winter. I have never seen swans in the Winter before. I don't know of a body of water, around here, that stays open in the Winter. I have read about swans, hanging on through the Winter, in areas where a power plant keeps a large pool of water open. In any case, we know Winter can't last forever when we see five swans flying over the land.

We had a chicken incident last night. As I mentioned earlier, we converted our goat shed to a chicken coop and moved the birds a couple months ago. I have moved chickens from one place to another before. It usually takes a few days to get them acclimated. We might have a few persistent ones that want to go in the old location and we gather them up after dark, when they can't see well enough to run away. Usually, it is only a couple chickens, and we have to do it, only once or twice.

I have been letting the chickens out in a pen. With snow covering the ground there was no place for them to go. During this January thaw, large patches of ground opened up. I let them free range on Monday. Yesterday Morning I noted a few stayed out over night, no big deal, I thought surely they would follow their friends in the evening. So I let the other chickens out to free range. Last evening at five, they were not congregating around their coop. I discovered about twenty chickens around their old coop. I tried to herd them over to their new coop. Huh! Have you ever herded chickens? Their old coop is in the pasture with the sheep. Of course, the sheep were curious and had to horn in on the herding business. I went and got Jamie to help me. Even with two of us, we couldn't get the chickens to move in the right direction. We waited until after dark and gathered about ten of them up. They were roosting in an ancient, fallen Box Elder and on the window sills of the old coop.

We gave up. There are about ten more out there. We will have to catch them tonight. If it is dark enough the chickens can't see well enough to run. The ideal situation is when you can see them and they can't see you. We have to be careful not to shine the flashlight on them. We hold the light, to the side, just so we can see them well enough to grab them. I am too old to run down a scampering chicken at night; especially when the ground is strewn with old tree branches from that Box Elder. We hope the moonlight will be bright enough for us to navigate, but not bright enough to let the chickens run.

If it wasn't for Brer Fox, Brer Coyote and the Great Horned Owls I would leave them out for a few nights. They would be easy to catch when it snows again and they do want to be in with the rest of the chickens. They are just obsessively focused on their old coop. I have never experienced chickens be so obsessive before. I hear rumblings about Mercury Retrograde.

Life on this planet can't help but be an adventure. We think we have mastered all we have to learn and then a new phase of learning makes its appearance. We know it is possible to be at peace and project peace, no matter what turmoil surrounds us. If we have the intent to evolve, the lessons will come to us, if we like it or not. It would be nice to learn all the current lessons and then be on a plateau of peace and quiet for a time [years].

Most of the folks reading this have made the intent to be unconditionally loving beings. Time is speeding up and vibrations are high. We are in a hurry to see what the world would look like without our egos. What would we see if we gave up all judgement? What would it be like to know oneness? What would it be like to give up all our defenses? What would it be like to know no fear? We we will find out. We will know Unconditional Love.

On the journey, we do have these pesky lessons.

MONDAY MORNING

A lot of folks complain about Monday Mornings. I enjoyed them. It was nice to get back to the office and hear what people did over the weekend. No one was anxious to get down to business, so there was much coffee drinking and conversation. Sometimes we were reluctant to get fully engaged with whatever work we were suppose to be doing. That's okay. I feel a little like that this Morning. Not that this is work, but it demands some attention. For me, work is something I would just as soon not do. Writing this blog is something I want to do, but many times I have no idea what I am going to write about.

I am coming down from a very busy week. A big family birthday party which involved much preparation and the death of my brother midweek................wow............ it must be time to recharge.

My brother's death was expected. He was on the verge of leaving for a long time. Yet, when someone close to us leaves, it is still a surprise. Every once in a while it occurs to me, gosh my brother's gone. We have been sharing the planet for eighty years and he is no more? Yet, I am fine with it. It was his choice. He wanted to leave.

Everyone has to explore for themselves, what death means. The idea that we live forever is reassuring; but if you don't really believe it, death will still create trepidation. Jamie asked me, "Does the death of your brother remind you of your mortality?" It actually didn't. I am aware of my mortality everyday. How could you be eighty and not know that today could be your last day? I don't dwell on it. I am very healthy and I can easily imagine living another twenty years.

Perhaps it is because I am convinced we live forever, that I feel closer to my brother now, than when he was in a body. I talk to him and I see if I can feel his presence. I imagine he can understand much that was a puzzle to him, when he was in a body, and I invite him to help guide me through this illusion.

It isn't hard to find people who predict the world, as we know it, is about to change drastically. I have been meaning to point out some things for readers to look at which point to the collapse of our present system. I don't want to keep hammering at it. I am not a prophet. I am convinced major changes are on the horizon, but the timing eludes me. Folk have to do their own research and decide for themselves.

Yet there are directions we should go even if things stay the same. Everybody should be planning some kind of garden, if they have any piece of land available. If they have no land available, of their own, they should consider a community garden. Commercially raised food is becoming more and more unhealthy. Despite all the information out there, our food is still being poisoned by pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. As long as the bottom line is the decision maker, commercial foods will continue on a dangerous track.

Likewise, even if our health system stays in entrenched in capitalistic greed for the time being, we as individuals do not need to slavishly accept it. If our doctor gives us a prescription, we can read up on the drug and become informed about its efficacy and dangers. Is it really a necessity? Will it really help? Is it just another money making fad like Statins? Is your blood pressure really that high that you need a dangerous drug- is their no other way?

Our world is way to insane to just wait patiently for things to change. How about politics, education, religion? Are some people still pretending we have a democracy when everything and [almost] everybody is for sale?

We have the power to have the world we want, and as John Lennon pointed out, it is evolution not revolution. We need to dream our world into being. Focus on the world we want and in the meantime, prepare where we can, and don't go along with the craziness.

GLOBAL BELLY LAUGH DAY

Tomorrow is Global Belly Laugh Day. I don't know how it got its name, but it is an idea that I support. There is nothing like a good belly laugh to raise the vibration. Deep, soul felt laughter increases the light and helps lift us all.

Laughter washes away fear. Laughter brings us to the present moment. Laughter takes us out of our negativity. We could all use a good belly laugh.

Tomorrow is, also, my birthday. Eighty years on planet Earth; I can't believe it. Time flies when we are having fun. I don't know why I have looked forward to being eighty with such anticipation; but I have. Heh! I am finally grown up!

The thing that I see clearly, about being grown up, is that, we must release all fear thoughts from our mind. We create with fear or love and we are creators. I have been paying attention to how fear thoughts creep into the mind and take up residence. That is scarey. Fear thoughts can be very subtle. They can take the form of vague apprehensions and we don't realize we are entertaining them. These thoughts throw us into the future and rob us of the present moment.

I have discovered that we hang unto fear thoughts because we actually think they give us protection. We have a superstition, that what we are afraid of, won't happen. As we steer through our lives, we feel naked without our usual petty or big fears. I have recently become aware of this, as I have increased my intent to eliminate fear from my mind.

We cannot fight fear. Fighting always brings us what we don't want. We can give up our attachments to the thoughts, however, acknowledge them and let them float away. We might say, "Oh, that is a fear thought", then let it float away without further attention. If we do make the error of attaching feelings to them, we can say, "These are not my feelings" experience them and let them pass without further attention.

We have a lot of help, right now, in raising our consciousness, out of the fear created, illusion. With practice we can find a meditative state of mind almost instantaneously. It is useful to pause throughout the day and let peace take over our minds. Expect help. Expect the arms of a loving universe to raise you above the hubbub. It happens.

Remember to smile. Shower the world with your laughter today, tomorrow and everyday.

Happy Friday!

Love and Peace,  Gregg

TRANSITIONS

Up until an hour ago I had a different topic in mind. However, we received a call from my oldest daughter, that my older brother died. It was an expected death. He had a major heart attack some twenty years ago that started a slow but steady downhill slide. He was ready for the transition and now can realize the Great Being of Light that he has always been.

My brother was eighteen months older than me. We were antagonistic when we were growing up, but we had times of closeness. I feel close to him now and I am happy that he is free. His last few years have been imbued with suffering.

His death comes at a time when I have been looking forward to a transition of my own. I will complete eighty years on planet Earth this Saturday. I never had a birthday that I looked forward to, like I have this one. I never minded growing older. The only birthday, I remember being kind of a shock, was when I turned fifty. One can pretend there still a kid through the forties; but fifty.

I don't know, what about eighty, is so charming. I just like the idea. I am always a little surprised when I think about it. When I am sitting in a chair, like I am doing now typing this, I could be thirty-five. I will only discover my age when I get up and walk.

I know that there is no death, we are not bodies after all. Some folks feel that the end of the body is the end of self. I haven't felt that way for a long time. I am not sure I ever felt, my self, was my body. I must have thought I was limited to a body at one time. When I realized the fraud that religion had become, I flushed God with religion. I think most of us do. We go through our atheistic and agnostic periods, but at some point our inquiring minds ask. "What is there." I would never argue, that life continues after death, with one who does not believe it. It doesn't matter what we believe, what is, is, and we all will find out.

The search for who we are seems to be built into us. We want to know, who we are. If there is a god, we want to know the nature of god. Somewhere along our search, god becomes spelled with a capitol G. It is not a matter of belief. It is a discovery. An adventure. A search. Belief is limiting, it blocks out new information. Searching in our minds and hearts has no limits. No one should interfere with another's path. All paths will lead to truth. We are One and we are all on a journey to that realization.

It is time for me to do my chores, which is doing the dishes and taking care of the chickens. I will walk and talk with my Brother on the way.

EMERGING

Winter is easing up. It is snowing and it is just over the freezing mark. Hopefully it will ease up before becoming a nuisance. I have a driveway as long as a city block, so I don't look forward to snow at plowable depths.

Yesterday, I discovered an opossum is living under the chicken coop. We are just getting familiar with opossums in Minnesota. I ran across my first one about fifteen years ago; but, I have only seen dead ones on the road since. I guess they have been gradually expanding their range North for some time. I don't now how long they have been in this part of the state. I am sure it hasn't been longer than twenty-five years.

The information sources were all over the place, in their conclusions, concerning the danger to chickens. It seems that they occasionally kill chickens but it is not a likely occurrence. They are more known for eating eggs. I won't bother Mr. Opossum unless he makes a nuisance of him/herself. I don't think I need be concerned.

I get feedback from people, that would indicate, that many folks are going through significant personal struggle in their relationships with themselves and others. However, the struggles are hopeful in that they are about discovering their being. We are trying to find out who we are. For so long we have defined ourselves with factors outside ourselves. Opinions from society, religion, politics, neighbors, families, teachers, et.al.; we have become confused about who we are.

In our journey to understand who we are, we must release all our past ideas. We are like butterflies struggling to emerge from the chrysalis. The chrysalis is made of all those myriad opinions of us hardened into a shell. The shell needs to be burst open, we need to spread our wings and prepare our flight through reality.

Intertwined in this shell, we created with outside opinions of us, is our own bits and scraps of belief systems we wove in to strengthen the prison bars. We locked ourselves up in our own little cages barely able to communicate with our fellow caged beings. We are amazingly creative and communicative beings, who have attempted to limit our ability to communicate with our bodily senses, and we have done all we can to deaden and mute those senses.

I don't mean to overstate the dilemma and I don't know that I have. We will know when we break free and can look back. The good new is that we did it to ourselves and we can undo it in a second. When we are locked into this illusion, it is so convincing, we feel that it is the only reality there is. We can't see anything else. We only believe our fives senses.

Yet we have had peep holes, here and there, to a different reality. We can harken to the great teachers who have come and gone. We have many people among us, now, that can see through the prison bars. We are indeed breaking out of our shells. We have discovered love. We are beginning to suspect that everything we ever believed is not true. We are finding our way out of the matrix.

We sometimes paint gloomy pictures of our predicament. It is not really gloomy. We cannot fail. Once we realize that awareness is the key, and love expands awareness, nothing can stop us. Full emergence is guaranteed.

We have many people helping us untangle the false beliefs, that we have been hanging on to. There is a way out of the matrix. We have teachers along the way but we must not blindly follow leaders. That is one of the ways we got into trouble in the first place. We carry with us the test for truth. We need to listen to our hearts. We will find our way.

Every time someone breaks out of their chrysalis a great light shines on the Earth and Love showers on all of us.

PERFECTION?

I am getting a late start because I decided to get my dishes done first. I am fascinated watching the old world come apart; especially, the financial system. I don't think there will be the kind of crash that folks need to worry about. There are well meaning people, in the banking community, attuned to the light, that are ready to step in when the cabal loses its grip. The media has been trying to foment hysteria over the tragedy in France. It will backfire. It will bring people together rather than create divisiveness. Folks are becoming aware that these so-called terrorist attacks are orchestrated by factions of the cabal who are clinging to power. The people have had enough of it. We demand peace.

As things unfold I will be able to talk more about world conditions. For today I would like to expand on Wednesday's theme.

One of the most important things we need to let go of is our idea of who we should be. It is the rare individual who is entirely satisfied with who they are. That is a shame. Sure we have choices but generally not the ones we think we have. I was working as a therapist in a child guidance clinic many years ago, I was in my thirties, healthy I exercised and played sports. I said to a colleague, only half kidding, "I am going to try out for the Vikings [a professional football team]" He replied, "No matter how you tune up a Volkswagen it will never be a Cadillac." He wasn't insulting me. He was just making a clear observation. I didn't mean it in the first place and I enjoyed the interchange; I remembered, though.

We all carry, with us, some kind of ideal that we compare ourselves with. This is a piece of craziness we need to let go of. What ever our idea of being perfect is, it is an error. We don't know what perfect is. As long as we are in bodies, we won't know what perfect is. We are to love ourselves and love ourselves absolutely, warts and all.

We are constantly condemning ourselves for our errors. We cannot grow that way. We won't improve by judging ourselves. When we see, we made an error, we should acknowledge it to ourselves, make any necessary apologies and let it go. We don't need to bring it up to ourselves again.  Self-flagellation will never promote growth and is of no use to the world.

We are loved unconditionally by Source and, under our ego-facade, we are love. We intermesh perfectly with each other and even our errors are teachable moments. Making errors is not the most propitious way to teach others or ourselves; but, attacking ourselves for making them is idiotic. Most errors come from not loving ourselves; they generally erupt from an area where we are self-critical. The correction, therefore, cannot come from being more critical.

We are all on a path towards learning what great loving beings we are. Our separateness is an illusion, our judgements a mistake. We will make mistakes on our way back to Source. As long as we are in bodies we will do so. It is no big deal. Let all negative evaluation of self go and don't bring it back again. The world needs our love, now. We can't give what we don't have. Let us remember to love ourselves so we have more to give.

Love and Peace,  Gregg
