A LATE SHORT BLOG?

I don't like air-conditioning; except when I love it. This last week I have loved it. The temperature has been over ninety, everyday, and cooled off to the mid-seventies at night; not enough to cool off a hot house. If it will get down to the fifties or low sixties at night, we don't mind the hot days. It is said that, older folks are more vulnerable to heat. Well I was born in 1935, so I might be an older folk. Still, I have heard people say {or imply} "Are you ever going to grow up". So I am not sure.

In any case I got back from the hospital and looked at the forecast. It was going to get down to the fifties tonight. With great exuberance, I turned off the air conditioning, and opened the doors to the screen porch, and threw open the windows. Ahhhhhhh, back to Summer living the way we like it.

It was cooler this morning, than it has been, and my chickens celebrated exultantly. They flew out of their coop and half flew, half ran across the yard. Yes, animals do express joy and appreciation of life.

Jamie is fine; but true to the surgeon's words, she will need to be in the hospital five or six days. Everything has to start working normally. It will probably be Monday, before she is released. Sunday is a possibility, if her insides cooperate. I am hoping, that the gurgling and churning, will commence soon.

I have not been paying attention to world events. I note that the UN and now, even the British, have pulled away from the U.S. stance on Syria. I think the war cry will fizzle. The real culprit, probably, will not be known. Some rebel group will, probably, be blamed. It seems, obvious, that this was a manufactured event to create war with another Muslim country. Ask yourself, "Who gains". That is where the responsibility lies.

But as I have said before, taking sides, and the weeping and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, will not bring peace to our planet. We need to focus our love on those who want to fight, scrap and war monger but don't waste your attention on them. We can love them, without minding, what they are doing. We know they are crazy.

We need to focus our attention on the beauty of the world. We need to dream, dreams of love. We need to see, the loving being, behind the ego, of everybody we meet. We can. We will. Love is emerging everywhere. Embrace it. Spread it around.

I need to get supper ready. I have no idea if I will be blogging Monday. Well, on second thought, I will be able to give you an update, at least.

NOT JUST ANOTHER DAY

I just talked to Jamie. She is happy! The ordeal is over and the healing is commencing. She sounds very good and I am very pleased. It was a strange thing going to bed without her last night. It is wonderful to be married and have someone to share your life with. I will have to be nurse, as well as chief cook and bottle washer, when she comes home; I gladly accept the role.

When we look at the world, we see what looks like unending conflict. Be confident, that most of it "is sound and fury signifying nothing" [is that how the bard put it?]. Everybody has to adjust to the new paradigm and those used to getting their way with violence are not letting go easily. But things have changed, there doesn't exist the 'guts' for a serious war in the population. Without our support war is impossible. The media is doing all it can to foment war with Syria. They can't do it alone. Most of us know that there is no more reason to believe that the Syrian government is behind the chemical poisoning, than the rebels, or for that matter, a false flag engineered by the CIA. It is the same kind of modus operandi we used to get into the Iraq War. If nothing else, it is suspicious.

Do we really think  it matters? It is all amazingly insane. We needn't take sides. By now, we know, no conflict is improved by more conflict. War does not bring peace. The ordinary folk of the world have had enough. They will shut their ears to the screams of the media- they will not go along with another war. Governments can do a lot of damage without their peoples support, but they cannot maintain the conflict without support. The wars in the Middle East, will fizzle and the peoples will, will be done.

Wherever you are, you can help immensely. Remember we are One. Everything, one thinks and does, influences everyone else. Instead of feeling anger towards the war mongers, love them as we would love a misguided child, under our care. Consciously, focus love on them; it may give them the courage to buck the system. Many politicians go along because they are afraid. They have been carefully made afraid. They need our love to stand up for what they really believe.

It is important, that we keep our minds out of the conflict. Let us not try and figure out, who is right and who is wrong. We only need to know this, NO CONFLICT WILL BE RESOLVED BY FORCE. Force of any kind. We can help by having peace in our own minds and extending it.

We, are only beginning, to realize the power of our minds. When we do, we will recognize that we can do the most good, by just loving those involved in conflict. To bring peace to ourselves and the troubled spots of the world visualize a magnificent cloud of love hanging over the area; in this case Syria. Picture streams of loving light, of all different colors, coming down like columns, on the people. Imagine the hearts and minds of all the people being filled with unconditional love. We can't overestimate the help this can provide.

Keep Loving. I need to do some chores and go to the feed store.

UNCERTAIN TIMES

It is hot! It is 89.6 F right now, but it is cloudy, it will get in to the 90s when it clears up. We have a geothermal heating/cooling system, so, we have air conditioning when we want it. We much prefer having all the windows open and spending most of our time on the screen porch; however, when the night temperatures are over 70, we will resort to air conditioning. We will use it about twice a Summer; 3or 4 days each time.

This has been an interesting weekend. Jamie has been scheduled to have a hernia repaired tomorrow. It has been long planned, and I was going to mention it today, as it may affect my blogging, Wednesday and Friday. We will see. I will give you a heads up. It is a large hernia and not the kind that causes strangulation; but it was time to have it fixed. Saturday evening, Jamie thought she was getting the flu. There has been a mild intestinal thing going around; we figured that was it. However, late in the night, the pain and nausea continued unabated and it was obvious this was not the flu. To the emergency room we went. Her bowel had kinked, causing a stoppage. The doctor, on duty, was able to manipulate it to its proper place and the pain and nausea subsided. They admitted her to the hospital for the following day to make sure everything was okay.

Interesting. Jamie has had this hernia for years and it has been this size for a quite awhile. Why would it act up, two days, before she was scheduled for surgery? Another interesting event: a good friend of ours, who was at, our house, for a party Wednesday, slipped and fell, Thursday, and broke her hip. She was in the hospital, a few rooms down from Jamie.

Saturday night was tough. Neither of us got any sleep and neither were able to nap, successfully, yesterday; yet, I felt, this was some kind of blessing in disguise. It wasn't a small feeling. I felt it strongly and Jamie enjoyed her stay at the hospital. It was the hospital, where she worked for many years, and she had a constant stream of nurses and other staff visiting her. Life is full of interesting things.

I don't know if the times are uncertain or if we just don't know how to read events. The internet is full of dire predictions concerning our financial future. Many feel that the air is going out of the bond market, after Labor Day, and it will drag down the stock market with it. Then gold and silver will sky rocket. Do we care? The financial system, as it now exists, needs to go. We need to get out from under the big banks. Their power has been immense. Their, only strategy, is to make money. Would we be fomenting for war in Syria, if there was no money to be made? The pain in our world is caused by greed for money and power. We don't need to go along with it.

I think most of us have figured out that we can't fight back. We can't meet confrontation with confrontation. We won't find peace through arms, no matter how convincing the argument. Change comes from letting go of the old ideas and raising the level of our thought. We need to avoid getting into any conflict in our minds. Avoid any discussion of pitting good against evil. That is not how it works. We cannot fight evil. Any energy we direct towards evil; increases it. We must disregard it! Ignore it! All conflict creates more conflict.

We want to change the world. We want to bring love into the world. There is only one way to do that. That is, to love. Pointing out the deficiencies of the world, won't do that. Worrying about, what might happen, won't do that. Letting our minds pay attention to fear, of any kind, won't do that. Holding on to any negativity won't do it.

We need to Love. When your eye catches a glimpse of a headline about Syria, pause and send your love on the country and its people; both sides; because there are no sides. All are, innocent people, manipulated by sources, beyond their awareness. Pour your love out on the manipulators, too. Everybody needs to be loved. We need to do it without judgement.

Is it so hard to believe that we can know nothing about this illusion? We know it is painful and we want out. We know it was created with fear. Can we take the position, that we can't figure it out? That we have no way of deciding what is right and what is wrong? That we can't see clearly enough, to make any judgements?

Can we opt out of all conflict and decide we are only going to love? We might measure everything with love. If it is love it is true; if not, it is to be disregarded. Some of, the peoples of the world, are caught up in the illusion. We can release them with our love. We can't fail. We are part of Source.

THE NEGOTIATOR

Another Friday. Another beautiful Morning. It is cool this Morning, long sleeve weather. It is very refreshing because we had a couple days of excessive heat. The forecast is for more heat after today. I sat out on my meditation spot, this Morning, and watched a Mother turkey and a large band of teen age children. That is the age of the young turkeys. If they were human they would be teenagers. They are almost as big as their Mom but clearly not grown up. Mom was standing on high alert and the young were ambling along paying little attention. I don't know if Mom could see me, but she definitely sensed my presence.

Wednesday we had a party, a gathering of some close friends, we had great food and a great time. We were able to enjoy our dinner on the deck. The mosquitoes didn't drive us in until about 9PM and then they weren't horrid. I think we are past the worst of this years mosquito crops.

Jamie and I have been discussing, the nature of the ego, and its, unrelenting function of negotiating, our status. It is constantly assessing our status vis-a-vis our fellow humans. Our egos are stuck on higher and lower. We perceive people as existing on tiers of relative respectability or value. This perception is personal and individual. We all develop our own hierarchies. Our egos are busily trying to, define ourselves, as higher than someone else, in order to feel important.

This struggle comes from buying into the idea, that people are unequal, and is fueled by the low self esteem, that has been embedded in us by our major institutions, especially religion, which has taught us we are sinners. This low self esteem is pretty universal. Sure many have come along ways in mitigating its effect, but, nobody grows up in our culture that doesn't have to deal with it, at sometime.

One of the benefits of being free of this low self esteem is being able to appreciate everyone for who they are. There is no need to judge their [or our] relative place in society. There is no need to jockey for a place that is higher or lower. There is no temptation to see anybody as higher or lower. When we free ourselves of any visages of low self esteem, we will not see people, in positions of authority, as better or more powerful than we are. We are all equal in value and power; just some have different jobs.

The ego encapsulates, what we are afraid of. Folks who were brought up in families that felt one down to their neighbors are going to struggle with higher and lower. As we grow and become aware of this conundrum, we can deal with our sense of low self esteem directly, by learning and seeing honestly, how the relationships play out around us. With determination and affirmation we can gain a sense of equality and we can reject any thought of higher and lower that come into our minds. Once we are aware, we will overcome.

Folks who deny, that they have any low self esteem {and we really want to deny it} will not leash their egos in, and they will constantly be negotiating for a comfortable place in the universe. All the money in the world and all the PH.Ds will not compensate. Without our acknowledgement, that low self esteem will hide, but fester, and drive our egos to an unending and fruitless attempt at validation.

We need to face it! If we are members, of this Human Race, who can read this; we have been contaminated by the spectre of low self esteem. We can test this out by looking around us. Do we see people as better or worse? Do we see people as higher and lower? When we overcome, the negativity we have learned from our culture, we will see equality. We will see oneness. We will give up jockeying for social power. We will love and appreciate each other for who we are. What a relief not to be concerned about our importance. What a relief not to worry about what people think of us. What a relief to know, none of that, has importance.

Hey! There is great news. The negative energy that has been contaminating our consciousness has lifted. As a whole, Humanity has raised high enough [energy/consciousness] to shuck off negative energy that has kept us down for generations. I would expect folks to be skeptical. Keep an open mind. Look for the attenuation in violence. Especially be aware of folks refusing to go along with continuing war; including the soldiers themselves. Look for a lowering of violent crime. Look for a freeing of Love Energy. Look for Love emanating from folks you least expect it. It's happening.

DIFFERENT THINGS

The heat came back. I was getting very used to the cool days and chilly nights. I thought the heat of Summer was behind us. It takes awhile to adjust to 90 degree F days and nights in the 70s or high 60s. It supposed to last only a few days and we will be back to cooler nights.

If anybody has any questions about the relative nutrition value of GMO corn; just ask my chickens. Over the last forty years I have thrown a scoop or two of whole corn to the chickens. Regardless, of what else I was feeding them, they loved the corn, the way kids love candy. Twenty chickens would clean up a scoop of corn in minutes.  If one came back in an hour, they wouldn't find a kernel left on the ground. Now I throw a scoop out and it stays on the ground for three or four days. They, or somebody eats it, but it takes a long time. It took a few years for GMO corn to dominate the market in our locality. I buy from feed stores that get their corn from local farmers. Although, the feed store mixed the new corn and old corn together, there was a fair percentage of the old varieties in a sack of corn, one would buy. This year I think it is about 100% GMO. If I want to continue feeding corn I will have to find a supply. There are organic feed stores in Minnesota, I will have to see what they got. Let us hope this craziness is over soon.

Speaking of chickens; what is intelligence and what is instinct? It has annoyed me to hear people refer to dumb chickens or dumb turkeys, etc. I usually reply, "They are pretty smart at being chickens" and leave it at that. Do we really understand the difference between intelligence and instinct? I mentioned, in an earlier blog, how a hawk killed one of my pullets.

The chicks were only a few weeks old and they had only been out of their pen a few times. Since, that one chick was caught, we have not lost another; despite the fact, that the hawk has been back All that they needed, was that one time. Now they head for the bushes whenever they hear a sound that remotely sounds like a hawk. There ability to communicate with each other is amazing. After that attack, the group mind took over, if one chick sees something threatening, a chick fifty yards away seems to pick it up. Chickens recognize people. If an unfamiliar person comes into their area, they are on high alert. Visitors, often want to get the eggs with me. I certainly welcome them; but I warn them that the hens might panic. Their response varies with the individual. On the other hand, when I go out alone, they walk on my feet. They often crowd around me. Other times they simply ignore that I exist. They are never afraid of me.

I think there is intelligence in everything. Plants, flowers, trees maybe even rocks. Science is not meant to limit our knowledge; it is meant to expand it. The scientific method is a tool to determine what MIGHT be factual. The idea of science is not to limit our minds, to what is determined, as factual. How could we make new discoveries? This is an amazing magical world full of astounding unknowns. Let us use science to open our minds, not close them.

HAPPINESS

We had a perfect weekend. We had a family party on Saturday and had a chance to visit with folks we haven't seen in a few years. Yesterday, we finished a fence building project that has been weighing on us. It was a satisfying day.

Most of us ask ourselves, "How can we best contribute to the world?" "What do we have to offer?" We want to do our share in creation of a loving world.

Let us examine this question. We chose to be born at this time to help usher in the new age. We came with gifts/talents to contribute. We are beginning to awaken, and as we see clearly, we will see how we can best contribute. Of course, we have been contributing all along, by our commitment to loving ourselves, and each other. Every time we smile, every time we laugh, we contribute, we add light to the world.

Sure, some have gifts of leadership etc., but those folks will will recognize their role when they are called. We don't need to know, in advance, what we will be called to do. We will be ready, by being close to ourselves. That is, by being in the now, and following our passion.

It all pretty much boils down to being happy. I mean genuinely happy. Not putting a good face on, not gritting your teeth through a smile. Really happy, from inside out. When we look around us and see who is most beneficial to the rest, it appears to be the peaceful ones, the folks that radiate calm. Yes, they are calm, they are peaceful; they are happy!

In our zeal to grow and evolve into the loving beings, we know we are, we sometimes add stress where it need not be. We do not grow by judging ourselves. We do not grow by attention to our limitations. Happiness comes with accepting ourselves, just the way we are. What happened in the past, happened in the past. If we need to forgive ourselves, let's do it. If we need to forgive others, let's do it. What has happened in this illusion, ultimately, has no consequence.

The most important thing we can do, to contribute to the world, is to be HAPPY. Then we uplift everyone. Happiness, joy, peace and love; they are one. We are one.

When we go through the day and realize we do not feel happy. We can stop. Contemplate for a moment. What thought and feeling has entered our consciousness? It doesn't belong. Don't own it. Dismiss it. Is it regret of a past event? Forgive. Is it worry about the future? It hasn't happened. We are meant to be happy! We are entitled to be happy! We are part of Source, which is all love, joy, peace, and therefore, happiness.

Pay attention to your happiness. The gifts, you have to share with the world, will be shared. We are love,

MAKING IT THROUGH THE DAY

Another gorgeous Morning, on this spot, on planet Earth. After three weeks of Fall like weather, Summer is returning. I was getting use to the cool days and cooler nights, I don't know that I will welcome August heat.

We are told we are on the threshold of Paradise. That we need to wake up! However, the world is still in the throws of rebirth. A lot of good things are happening but they are rarely detailed in the mainstream media. We get seduced into waiting and hoping.

We know that waiting is not good for us. Many of us, me included, are horrible at it. Waiting creates tension and it causes you to miss the moment. We are told that everything is 'now'. Love, joy and peace are NOW. We know that. We have read it. We intend to stay in the now. What happens? How do we slip up?

We need to do more of that basic work. Our Hearts want to stay in the now. Our Hearts are Love. Somehow our hearts have been replaced by our minds. Now our minds are great at figuring things out. But Logic without Love is Heartless! The mind needs to be guided by the heart, many of us have it in reverse. Many of us have learned not to trust our hearts; we find ourselves trusting heartless logic.

Okay, we understand that. How can we change? How can we let our heart take the lead? The simple answer is: whenever we Love our Hearts are in the lead. True; but, it is never that simple. There is work to do. We need to divest ourselves of all the ideas, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that have become automatic. These aspects of our minds, trigger responses, that take us out of the moment. Without realizing it, we find ourselves riding one of these steeds, that carry us away from our heart and the moment. There are little thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors, that we cling to, because we believe they protect us. They are based on fear but we may not recognize that at first. When we first realized we needed to clean up our act, we addressed the obvious, fear based ideas, we had. Many little things escaped our notice.

Let us take one example: worry. Even our logic tells us worry has no value. It can't change the future. It can't change the past. Yet, because we have developed some kind of superstition; 'what we worry about won't happen'. Or we feel it is only responsible to worry. Or we feel, 'anybody in their right mind would worry'. We accept it is okay to worry. We know it hurts us. We know we tend to create what we focus on. We know that worry is painful. We know we can't love and worry at the same time. It always takes us out of the moment.

How do we stop worrying? We need to look for the underlying idea that makes us think it is protective. We need to change our minds.

Worry comes in all flavors and sizes. When we get up in the Morning are we concerned about the tasks that need to be accomplished that day? Does our concern shade into worry that we won't be able to do them? Do we make a mental [or written] to do list? Does this, to do list, cast us out of the moment, in to the future? These are things to look at. We all have heard of going with the flow. We can have our lists, and stay in the moment, accomplishing each task. That is going with the flow. But if something {life} interrupts the flow; a neighbor drops by, somebody calls on the phone, the tool you were going to use won't work; then you go with that flow. If you stay in the moment and love what is in front of you; everything is always okay.

We are evolving. We are becoming whole. Our fragmented selves are coming together. Soon the the separation between our hearts and minds won't even be a memory. We will be one. We will be heartmind.

Well, I need to go with the flow into that kitchen and transform it.

Love and Peace,  Gregg
