WINTER RETURNETH

Not that it ever went away. It was 20.7 below zero F this Morning about eight AM. I got up before daybreak because I was concerned about pipes freezing. They didn't. They froze the last time it was colder than twenty below; but that was the first time in over twenty years. We think it was because the mouse invasion contributed toward the diminished insulation protecting the pipes. We are not positive, hence the heightened concern.

It was pleasant outside when I did the chores [-8]. The anticipation before going out is far worse than the reality. So much for staying in the hear and now. It is quite a beautiful day, clear and Sunny.

These are anxious times for some people. They feel the impending changes, but can't see them and the unknown foments anxiety. Personally, I have overcome the tendency to get anxious. I am not saying I never will again; knock on wood. There was a time when a fine state of anxiety was a common companion and it some times became acute. Through various forms of meditation I learned to evolve out of that state of consciousness. I may get concerned [like about our pipes freezing] but I rarely experience anxiety.

Fear thoughts racing through your mind blocks your intuition. The guidance you can give yourself, that would normally help you with whatever you are getting anxious about, is inaccessible.

If you have some sophistication about meditation, use your knowledge as soon as you are aware of impending anxiety. Close your eyes and connect with that quiet place inside you. If you have only a rudimentary idea of meditation, practice picturing a place in your mind of great peace. It could be a favorite vacation spot, fishing on a beautifully calm lake, or you can imagine something. Practice creating this place in your mind when you are not anxious. It will only take about five minutes a day. Find a time and place where you will have minimal disturbance. Practice creating the picture that brings you peace. When you find yourself becoming anxious, close your eyes and connect with that place. If you are extremely anxious, you may have to call on your higher self for help; just believe that in the core of your being there is wisdom and unconditional love. If your spiritual beliefs allow for it, call for help from God or what makes sense to you. Help will come.

It is important that we learn to cultivate peace. From peace comes all the states of consciousness we want to experience. Love and joy come from peace. It is only in a state of peace that you can see the beauty of the world. When we are calm, we can see the beauty of our fellow beings. More importantly, we can begin to appreciate the beauty of and in ourselves. We contain all the wisdom we need to make the decisions in our life; both the everyday mundane ones and the crucial ones. We know who we are and where we are going. To achieve this level of intuition, we need to maintain peace. You will do it. It is inevitable. The illusion of time is the only factor.

Peace cannot be found outside you. If you want peace in your surroundings, look for it inside you and extend it outside. You can do it. You will do it. When you know peace, you will see how everything is unconditional love.

Jamie is making cheese and doing things like cleaning out the upstairs freezer. She is finding many interesting, forgotten items. Are they still edible? If not the chickens will feast. She has taken over my dish washing duties. I don't mind.

POWER AND STRENGTH

Power and Strength need definition. Power is the force that is used over others. Power comes in the form of higher and lower. It is demonstrated in coercion, influence over others, and any type energy to get people to do what they do not, wholeheartedly, want to do. It is any influence that is not love.

Strength comes from your being. It is the ability to sustain; to stand up to the forces of power. It is the ability to be who you are, regardless of influence.

Our egos are constantly trying to trick us into thinking we need to be powerful to protect ourselves. The truth is power is empty; it comes without peace. The more you have, the more you need to protect it. It comes with the fear you might lose. Like all the egos' tricks, it is empty and adds nothing to your being.

Strength is the willingness to be vulnerable. To be out there, for all to see. To be unafraid of criticism and judgement from others. Strength comes from relinquishing the ego. The more you can let the ego slide the stronger you become. Strength comes from knowing love is the only force there is. Strength comes from a quiet state. A state of peace.

In the Old World, power was the dominate force in all relationships, whether they be husband/wife, teacher/student, nation/nation- all of human interaction. Of course there were exceptions, all through history there were people who rose above the dominate paradigm.

In the New World power is eschewed. It will no longer be permissible to exert power over others. If you are in a relationship where you feel power being used to shape your behavior; aren't you feeling uncomfortable about it? If you are the person who uses power, are you willing to give it up?

Having power never brings peace. Controlling someone else, only brings anxiety. What if you lose? If your controlling someone else, the potential is always to lose. You will never feel  peace in the relationship.

Internationally, power leads to war. Personally, it leads to divorce, resignation, pain, loneliness and conflict at all levels.

Humanity is ready to give up power as a viable way to behave. Don't look for evidence of it globally. Although I know it is true because of the increase in unconditional love bathing our planet, it won't be obvious for awhile. If you look you will find it in your personal life. Relationships based on power are beginning to chafe to the degree they are becoming intolerable. On the other hand, the more you are willing to give up power the more peaceful you will become. You will find life richer and more rewarding in every way. The less you exude the need for power, the freer people are around you. You will feel greater intimacy and spontaneity.

The principle is that we are all equal and love is the only energy there is. Power is inequality. It is higher and lower. It does not fit in the New World. If you are to enter paradise, you must give up the idea of power.

There is great peace in being and letting others be. As we give up the dictates of our egos, we will feel the love flowing around us and between us. There will be no temptation to return to the old ways.

TOTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

We have three small plastic buckets sitting alongside our sink for kitchen waste. One for coffee grounds intended for the blueberries [ aids in keeping the soil acid]; one for the goats, banana and orange peels, anything leafy; and the rest goes for the chickens. This morning, as I was getting the water jug filled up for the goats, I reminded myself to take out their bucket. I reminded myself, at least, once more. I was halfway down the path to the goat shed, when I remembered, I forgot it!

The irony; I was thinking about writing this blog and was thinking about the meaning of awareness. Ahhhhhhhh...... I was paying more attention to the stream of consciousness in my mind than what I was doing. Just a reminder: The teacher teaches what he wants to learn. Don't look now Krishnamurti.

As I mentioned before, Krishnamurti taught us to focus on what was before us with such intensity that we emptied our mind. In a sense, focus exclusively on your perception and the inside will take care of itself. The traditional masters taught us to focus completely on quieting our mind and the outside will take care of itself. Both methods work to expand consciousness.

In the first method, if you intensely focus on perception, to the exclusion of your thought stream, you are in the 'now'. You stop time, therefore you 'see'. You see beyond the controlled group ego perception. Reality becomes available.

In the more traditional method, you practice quieting your mind to the point where your thought streams no longer interpret what our perception is. Without the stream of thoughts, you are in the 'now'. Time stops. You see what is.

What is Full Consciousness? What is it like? How will it help? Remember in my last blog when I discussed how the increase in the light, paradoxically, made things seem worse because they illuminated old programs. It accentuated our 'buttons' and made them easier to push. As we become aware we see our unconscious programs. Because we see them, we don't just automatically react as if we were a robot responding to stimuli. There is a pause, where we can say to our self, oh, that is one of my buttons. I can let the button go rather than react to it. On the other hand, you will see more clearly those sore spots in whom your talking to and you will have a pause to reflect on whether you want to say what you were tempted to say. We still need to be responsible, but awareness allows us to be responsible. As we see more, we will give up all our old negative programs and we will certainly not be tempted to engage anybody Else's.

What else does Full Consciousness bring? All the knowledge that you have stored away from the time we left source becomes available. If you wish you can scan your past lifetimes. You can view the history of man on this planet. You can see your history elsewhere.

One of the most powerful things and the thing that will give us release; is seeing how we have been manipulated individually and as a group, these last few thousand years. Our perception has been manipulated, in every possible way, in order to make us willing servants of the cabal. When we see that fear is made to control us, and has no reality outside of this illusion, we will be released from the last remnants of the cabal. As our awareness increases the manipulation becomes more and more glaring. Remember that anybody who invites you to fear wants to control you or profit from you.

With full consciousness we will see we are one. Everybody is worthy, everybody is love, everybody wants peace, love and joy to grace their lives. Paradise is only a thought away.

I got a do the dishes and be aware.

FURTHER ADVENTURES ON PLANET EARTH

Yes, the light is increasing. Our capacity for love is increasing. We are coming together. Oh, you say it doesn't feel like it. It looks like the same miserable world. Here is the reason why.

For our life time, and thousands of years, we have been taught to see things in higher and lower. We have been taught to defend our individuality at all cost. We have been programmed to be alert for any put downs or negative comments directed our way. We have been carefully conditioned to be wary of all others and question their motives. These, and a myriad others, are our ego responses. Our ego is dedicated to keeping us separate and not realizing our oneness.

As the light increases our egos are threatened with loss of control. We are suddenly on the alert for any negative input from others. We may be more loving with strangers and acquaintances. The ego reserves its waning strength for your most important relationships. In these relationships, with wives, husbands, children and close friends, the ego sensitizes you to your old programs. Your buttons are suddenly easy to push. Your going along, having a good time, experiencing love and intimacy and suddenly you fall into a raging and horribly stupid argument.

This experience, or similar machinations of the ego, are bound to occur on our journey, of giving up the ego's prominence in our lives. The positive part of the experience is that it lays bare the stuck points we have. It shows us what we need to shine love on, in ourselves. We need to remind ourselves that we are not the person our ego so painfully points out. That person is part of the ugly illusion we have been living in. That person is only the ego formation we have developed because of our crippling teaching.

We are much more than that. We have lived through many, many life times. We are pure spirit, unconditional love. We took this journey to explore separateness. We did that to the max. We are on our way back to the source. In between lives,  we decide what experiences to have, to learn. It is, not so much, that we are on a quest for perfection, as we are on a quest to realize we are already perfect.

The light is shining stronger and stronger. Don't despair. The ego is losing its hold. It is just thrashing around before it slides away completely. Soon we will all realize unconditional love. We will open our eyes wide and see paradise.

THE DOLDRUMS OF WINTER

The middle of Winter is often characterized by quiet, and not so quiet, desperation. When we awoke, yesterday, to find the hot water line to the sink was frozen, the desperation was not that quiet. It got down to - 21.8F and the wind was blowing all evening, but it hasn't frozen in about fifteen years. On investigation, it turns out that the mice had slowly removed the glass wool insulation that Jamie had, some twenty years ago, placed between the pipes and the outside wall. It is in an area behind the sink and below the floor; not easy to get at. Over the last several years, we noticed bits of insulation on the kitchen floor, some Mornings. They finally removed enough.

Today I have have completed my 78th year on planet Earth and tomorrow I begin my 79th. I must have learned a bunch, but most days I don't think I know much. This Morning I almost grabbed hold of the handle of a hot cast iron frying pan. Just lightly touched it before I pulled back. Didn't burn myself. Smart huh.

This Earth is a kindergarten or first grade. We are just beginning our spiritual understanding and although we have made great technological strides, our scientific knowledge has far outstripped our wisdom. We created hydroelectric dams but then flooded out native populations and destroyed huge swathes of the environment. We have coal burning plants that heavily pollute the air. We strip mountains to get the coal and destroy forest and streams. We develop nuclear power and have no way to deal with the nuclear waste except to drop depleted uranium on unsuspecting populations. All this pales beside the destruction to our health and environment caused by the chemical industry. How is it that we have such amazing scientific knowledge and no wisdom?

We have painted some things as being great scientific successes, for instance Borlaug's Green Revolution. But close examination shows a peasant agriculture, that has existed for thousands of years destroyed, and replaced by one that is dependent on pesticides and chemical fertilizers that are made, you guessed it, in the Western World. There were much better ways of increasing production and feeding those folks. Ceasing Western exploitation for one.

See I must have the Winter Doldrums; that is a depressing picture. But I don't mean it to be. I just want to make it clear that, we may have made some scientific advances, but we are spiritually and emotionally barely out of diapers. We need to realize how stupid we have been, but dwelling on it won't change it.

We are right at a hinge point. We are on the verge of great change. The stupidity of the old world is still with us and it is more and more glaringly so. When your eyes begin to open, the realization of what the world has been, is horrible. Unknowingly, we created a very dismal and painful world.

Many people were very disappointed that Dec 21 came and went without obvious change. But even if you are not aware of it, the light has been increasing rapidly. It is important that people see how bad it was. We need to own up to what we created to begin creating with wisdom. For those, who can now see how crazy it has been, switch your attention to the world you want. See the world of love and wisdom emerge. Those who are just beginning to see are going to need help in having their attention changed from, the horror that was, to the love and beauty that can be.

Stay away from television as much as you can, you don't need  your nose rubbed in the horror. This period of uncertainty will be very short. We will get through it just fine. Focus on your relationships. Pour all the love you can into them. See everybody with love. Appreciate everyone. Create paradise around you. It will a spread.

DEATH

One of my Facebook friends posted, "You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body" It is a point to keep in mind. It is easier to maintain a loving countenance, when you know you are a soul and not a body. Imagine how aging affects people who have not made this mental transition. The idea that you are crumbling and sinking into oblivion would be horrible; the idea that it is just your body makes it tolerable, at least, most of the time. I am going to be 78 in a few days and I love growing old; if I thought I was a body, not so much.

Everybody needs to make their peace with death. Most folks do it gradually. You may have noticed that people often start reading obituaries when they are in their early fifties. They might say, that they are seeing if anybody they know has died, but their primary reason is to get comfortable with their own death. One way or another most people learn to accept the death of their bodies.

Often people have an experience that helps them along the way. I had a couple near drowning experiences; they didn't help much. But, when I was in my late thirties, it occurred to me that life was no different from jumping off a high building. The only difference is time. Death is rushing to you just as surely as the ground is rushing towards when you fall off a building. At the time it was anxiety producing, to say the least. Ever after that, I was less afraid of dieing. I had yet to make the transition to knowing I was Spirit and not Body.

Knowing that you are soul/spirit makes accepting your body's vagaries much easier. More importantly, it helps you identify with the love you are. Your real self [soul] is unconditional love. It is only possessing a body, in this illusion, that limits your knowledge and expression of who you are.

We need to love everybody and everything to escape from this illusion. As long as we have a body, it is much easier to remember to love, when we can remind our self that we are love.

The most important purpose of the body is to be a communication device for folks in other bodies. Your bodies can radiate love to all around you.

Stay warm. It is -3.5F, here, right now. It got down to -17.7F and was -14F when I got up. It didn't feel too bad when I did the chores. It is a beautiful Sunny day. I need to get at my dishes.

GOD THE WORD

Some readers may wonder why I talk about spiritual matters, but rarely, use the word god or God. The explanation is simple. I have no idea what the reader sees when he/she reads the word God.

The institution of religion has spoiled the word for many people. They were confronted with a god of tyranny, a god of judgement, a god of revenge, a fickle god who could not be trusted. I know somewhere in the institution there are many who believe in a god of love, but it is hardly reflected by the institution.

I grew up in a Catholic family. They were liberal in their thinking and, for the most part, they did not reflect these negative aspects of the belief in god. I know that some members of my family were able to embrace a God of Love and overlook the craziness of the institution. I wasn't.

It was without any regret that I through off religion, like a bad dream, when I was about fourteen. It was a great relief. As a young intellectual, I found plenty of folks who shared my agnostic views. It seemed like most of us growing up in the fifties and early sixties rejected the idea of organized religion and doubted the existence of a god. It seemed to be a natural function of growing. Some of the people I knew, returned to their religion, perhaps out of a need to be part of the herd; but some, I am sure, found a renewed faith.

I was always a searcher. I explored the philosophies and religions of the world, looking for what ringed of truth. They always reminded me to look inside. I didn't know what that meant then and I am still learning now.

When I was about forty, I intensified my search for the meaning of life. It was an uneven search, but most of the time my attention was focused on the subject. I was deeply into Eastern philosophies and went around endlessly repeating mantras to myself. I tried everything. Gradually, but with some sudden insights, I came to believe that the only solution to all problems was Love.

I, also, read a great deal and was able to reach a place where things made sense to me. I now define God as the energy of the universe, Unconditional Love. God is 'The All'. Singularly and together we are God. God is the life in all of creation. As part of the creation, we are creators and have free will to create with Love or in separation. Creating in separation forms the illusion. A world where love struggles to be.

Unconditional love doesn't care what you believe. All are one, regardless of what you think. What is 'is', despite what we may believe. What 'is' is probably much more grand than we can imagine and, it would behoove us, not to hang too strongly on to what may be our petty beliefs.
