WE ARE IT!

The change in the world will come from the bottom up. We can't wait for some great leader to show us the way. We have had masters and teachers all along who have pointed the way. In fact in our own time, we have had many teachers who helped us along the path. One of them just died, Wayne Dyer, certainly a teacher of significance. Many have been blessed by his teachings and he will be missed. There have been, and are, many teachers who point to the light.

The people who save the world will not be the Dali Lamas, as great as they are; we, you and I, are the only ones who can save the world. Sure we are a long way from being able to 'live in the moment'. We have yet to 'stop time'. We are distracted during meditations and our minds drift to what we should have for supper. We still fight with our family members and we catch ourselves judging more than we would like.

But like it or not, we are it. We are the ones who can bring this world to a sane reality. We are the ones who can look on the world with love in our hearts; as Wayne Dyer said, "See the light in others and treat them as if that is all there is." We have the intent. We see the direction we want to go in. We dare to dream of a sane world.

Don't look back at how we were. Don't even dwell on your faults at this moment. Sure we have a ways to go. Sure, some people still irritate us. Sure, we are sometimes greedy, jealous, angry, nasty, judgmental, etc. But we catch ourselves. We have the intent to love all the time. We have our moments, when we feel great love flowing from us, and to us.

We don't need to feel overwhelmed by the task. We are not doing it individually. We are One. We can think of ourselves, as great beings of light, who have covered our light over with ego concerns. We have shaded our light with fears for ourselves, with worries, judgements and a whole variety of ego attributes. We have been uncovering the light by focusing on love and giving up these ego preoccupations. We have made great headway. Every time we remind ourselves, to see the light in our neighbor, our own light shines through our disguise more brightly.

The more light we see in others; the more our light shines. We are past the tipping point. There are more people attuned to the light than there are people still in the shadows.

Of course, we will see some positive change occurring at the top; but the real change will happen with us and the people around us. We don't want to live in insanity any longer. Couples, families and communities are emerging from the darkness; this puts pressure vertically and influences choices in leadership.

We will get discouraged. That is okay. We don't need to wallow in it. We can pick ourselves up and smile brightly at the next person we see. We will change the world with our smiles. We will change the world with our laughter. Know, that you and I, are the only folks who can change the world; we are doing it.

STEPPING OUT OF THE ILLUSION

Summer is back! We had the bedroom window open all night. I don't know what the low temperature was, probably around 60F. Wednesday Morning it was 47F when I got up. Yes, it has been a little chilly at night for August. It got warm again yesterday and we were able to sit on the porch in the evening. There was a wonderful serenade of crickets and tree frogs.

We often have a little warning, of Fall coming, and Summer's end, in late August. It felt ominous of an early Autumn, but that feeling is gone now, hopefully it will be a long slow autumnal season.

Jamie got several quarts of beans canned this week and I made seven quarts of pickles. We have lots more beans and cucumbers left to harvest. The garden got away from us this year. It is overgrown with both weeds and a harvestable crop.

It feels like a long time since I have blogged. A lot happened. I am not prepared to comment on the ups and downs of the stock market, except to say, it is likely to continue until................. well we will see.

In the short term we are likely to be in for some rocky times. The media is going to throw up all the grief and strife in the world and rub our nose in it. We need to look away and towards the light. Minds are changing. Love is growing. There is a great temptation to ogle and examine the rotting corpse of our dying culture, but it doesn't help much; once we are, indeed, convinced that it is dying. Likewise, it is not particularly useful to examine and unravel the shenanigans of the dark ones. They have one goal in mind, and that is, to keep the people poor, ignorant and under control. We see that. Ignore them. If we are not afraid of them, they can do nothing.

We have experimented, with almost every way we can live, on this planet. I am not a historian or an archaeologist, but I can conjecture that we have had our "Golden Ages" where we have achieved something close to happiness for the majority. These last few centuries have been an abysmal experiment in the 'dog eat dog' consciousness. I don't know that we could be much crazier. We have taken separateness to the nth degree.

At the same time, we have been indulging ourselves in a spree of separation, wise ones and masters, have been reminding us, that we are 'one' and only love will create the world we want.

We don't need to wait any longer. We don't need to wait for a savior. Our savior is ourselves. We save ourselves by making the intent to love in all circumstances. Each one of us can decide, that today is the day, that we love everyone and everything. All of our decisions will be based on love.

We have been trapped in this illusion, created by fear, long enough. We don't need to reinforce it further. Ignore all invitations to fear. We can select entertainments that are uplifting. We can focus, only, on the love we see around us. When we make the intent to focus only on love, we will see it all around us, where before we saw bleakness.

We are creators. We created the illusion of fear and we can, now, step out of it. It is a very convincing illusion and that is why we stuck with it so long. After all, we are part of Source, and we have free will, and the ability to create anything we want. We have worn out the idea of separateness.

Source is Love. We are Love. Separateness is anti-love. We created against our true selves. Creating with love will be like sliding down hill. It will be expressing our true nature.

Everyone is equal. Everyone is equally powerful. A smile at a stranger, in the grocery store, may have more power towards bringing peace on Earth than a high level international agreement.

None of us can judge our own impact or the impact of others on the world. We can decide, our impact, will be loving.

To change the world, we need only to pay attention to our own selves and the world we are creating around us. Get to know the love we are. Let the love, we are, shine on all around us. We will see how we can be of service.

Happy Friday!

EQUANIMITY

Equanimity; it is a nice word. It sounds nice to me. Say it to yourself; equanimity. Doesn't it call a calm, peaceful mood to mind. A person who has equanimity, doesn't get ruffled by the ups and downs of what goes on around them. They know that everything is okay. They know that the Universe is loving and all will be just fine.

We can have equanimity, too. It is a choice that we make. We are so used to reacting to other people's dramas, that we don't see how we choose our reaction. If we pay attention, we will see how we can stay unruffled when someone is reacting emotionally to, or around us. It is easier to stay out of it, if it is just around us, when it is to us, it tends to trigger our own drama. Still, it is easier to stay unruffled than one might think. It is a matter of awareness and intent.

First we need to value peace. We can't really have the intent to be peaceful unless we appreciate what it means to be peaceful. When we know, that is what we want, then we have to be aware. It doesn't take very many slip-ups, to know when not to engage, someone else's drama.

When we love ourselves, we want to experience love. Love and peace are wedded. Can we really experience love without peace? We can learn that we don't have to give up our peace, even if everything is falling around us.

As we have discussed before, the world has been in a major economic contraction. With one strategy after another, the contraction has been kept from, too great a hit, on the stock market. Those days might be over. It is possible the world economy can shake this off and continue without a major rout. But then, it will eventually all collapse, because it is based on nothing but greed.

We can keep our equanimity even through this. We need to radiate peace and love to a troubled world. Everything is okay. All is well.

We can go through the world loving ourselves. There isn't anything we can't love. We can understand others reactions and love them for them, without ourselves, joining in.

This will be a short blog. Jamie pulled a muscle in her right leg. She is worried that she might not be able to drive. I need to go to the Amish and pick up milk. And, we had a change in schedule for Wednesday; I won't be able to blog in the Morning. It is possible I will be able to write in the afternoon, but it is doubtful. I will be here Friday.

TRUST

We are going to go through some difficult times. Perhaps, we are already in them. It helps to have trust. "Trust in who or what?" We might hear. The idea of God, has been so contaminated by religion, how can we go there? It has been said that if God didn't create man; man would have created God. And, I believe man did create God; a god of punishment, a god of sacrifice, a god of judgement, a god demanding allegiance, a jealous god. Do you recognizes that god in the religion you were familiar with?

I rarely use the word God for that very reason. Privately I have no problem with the concept of God. I think of God as the sum of all that exists [and all is energy]. I see God in the splitting of a single cell amoeba and I see God in an exploding quasar. Every time I contemplate Nature, I am in awe of what I perceive. This magnificent energy I perceive in, and flowing through the Universe, I label Source. It is everything from the tiniest part of an atom to the totality of the known and unknown universe.

This energy that controls the movement of the stars and planets, and causes the flowers to bloom in our gardens, is what I think of as God or Source.

Perception is everything, and we can choose to see this energy as negative, as neutral, or as positive. No matter how I turn it over in my mind, I can not see it as negative; besides that is too scary, why would we want to live in a world created by fear? Neutral? Possibly, I suppose; everything just a giant machine, operating eternally. Many of us believe that. Maybe it, just is, what it is. And it is, what we put into it. So, if we put love into it, it is love. If we put fear into it it is fear.

What if the third possibility is true; what if it is positive? What if it is Love. What is the underlying energy of all creation? I seek an understanding of it. I search for it. I flow with it, during my meditations. It feels like love to me.

Trust is the belief, that the creative energy of the universe, as manifested in our everyday concerns, will manifest in positive solutions. We can make decisions based on unconditional love or anything else.

This is a difficult conundrum for us. We got ourselves into this pickle by following our ego's promptings. We have been following our ego around for so long, disguised as self preservation, that we cannot often distinguish an ego driven decision from a sound one. We are truly blind! That is why I recommend that we give up all our beliefs. We are blind, but if we choose to see the universe as loving, we can begin to trust. Trust that Nature will function without our meddling. Trust that, if we give up fear, and embrace love we will see a different world.

As things collapse around us, we can make panic driven ego decisions and stay in the pickle we're familiar with, or we can trust Source [the Energy of the Universe] to shape our decisions for us. If we make our decisions, based on the idea, that all are worthy, all are love, all are one, all are part of the whole, can we go wrong?

We deserve to live in paradise. Nature, and our Loving Mother Earth, hold out Paradise to us. Just look! Anything you see as negative is what we have done. All the pollution, destructive mining, tearing and scraping of the Earth can be undone. Our Mother will heal herself and we can help. If we trust in Nature, if we love ourselves and our neighbors, we can let our decisions come from the center of our being; they will be in line with Source.

Trust in ourselves, our true selves, we know the right direction in our hearts. We will experience what a world of love looks like. There is going to be some rough times. It can't be helped. The results of many past ego decisions need to play out. It won't take as long as we might think. We need to keep our eyes on the light. The more we experience our oneness, the more powerful the healing energy will be.

Celebrate; sing, dance, laugh, it's a great day!

A RAINY DAY

It is cool, only 57F. We had a fire in our living room stove last night to be cozy. Last week we were sweltering in the heat. It has been raining off and on these last few days, no great deluge, a little less than an inch in three days.

Washing my keyboards was a great success. I am now using the original one; not the click/clack. I am not sure which one I like the best. I think it will be this one, after I get reoriented to it. They take a long time to dry. I put them out in the Sun every day. One took three or four days and the other five or six.

Our garden is greatly in need of harvesting. We must have over a bushel of beans on the vines. One thing and another we haven't got to it. Now it is too wet. I have cucumbers to pickle. Things come all at once, but it always works out. The Whitney Crab tree is loaded. They make excellent sauce. The abundance is great.

It is raining harder now and it must be washing away my thoughts. I was looking forward to blogging today, as I have my old keyboard, and there seems to be some interesting things happening in the world. It all seems far away now. Well, everything I have been reading, since Monday, would indicate we are, incrementally, approaching a collapse. Some writers talk about days, rather than weeks or months. The schemes, to keep things afloat, are failing.

Other than to be warned, so we are not too surprised, there is not much we can prepare for. We don't really know how the collapse will unfold. Jamie and I have always kept reserves of dried beans, rice, salt, coffee beans etc. and we have freezers full of garden produce. This is something we have done for years. We have been snowed in for three days. We have had our electricity cut off for an equal time. We like the comfort of knowing we would get by for a few weeks if push came to shove. I believe that is a natural attitude developed by the back-to-the-landers of the seventies. I think it behooves everybody to have a few basic food stuffs, that can be easily stored, and would last for a couple weeks.

I came from a family, of several generations, of food preservers. My Mother canned two hundred quarts of tomatoes one year. We always had a full larder of home canned jams and jellies, often from wild fruits. Some years, we had blackberry jam everyday in our lunches, on home made bread. I didn't appreciate it then. I wanted that bologna sandwich my friend had.

In the community I grew up in, most people kept a larder, I don't think anybody was worried about a disaster, I think it was just a natural attitude of the time. Of course, my parents and grandparents went through the great depression, but perhaps, it had more to do, with the fact, that the attitudes, the settlers brought over from Europe, hadn't yet died out. The peasants of Europe had always kept as much food in storage as they possibly could. They were dependent on what they could raise and gather.

I am not sure, material things, are the greatest things we need to be concerned about. I think we need to open our hearts and minds to all those we see in need. I think we need to understand that love is expressed in service, to our neighbors, and we must be prepared to help in anyway we can. And we have no idea what that will be.

I don't think there will be a sudden crash. Although, it may seem sudden if one was not paying attention. I think the air will go our of our financial system, slowly, and things will grind slowly to a halt. But then I am not a prophet; I am just a guy, who lives a few miles South of Ogilvie, Minnesota, and likes to pay attention.

It seems to me the only way we can prepare is to get our spiritual/psychological act together. Why did we choose to be on the Earth at this time? Have we been involved in a major world change before? Do we have some knowledge/experience to contribute to the rebuilding of society? Can we visualize what a sane world would look like? This time, will we be able to build a world based on Love?

If we can learn to live in the moment and love in the moment [love without reservation or restriction], we will make the right decisions as we go along. We cannot know what those decisions will be; but we can know they will be based on love. So all the preparation we need to do, is to clean up our act. As we have said before, create paradise around ourselves, then we can extend it to others.

This is not something to be overwhelmed by. Sure, we are still regularly falling on our faces. We are still getting into unbelievable squabbles with family members. We still get angry. We still get depressed. But we have intent! We want to be Loving Beings. Behind the ego facade, we are loving beings. We are imperfectly 'perfect' and we will create a perfect world with our intent.

Whenever we find ourselves, off the smooth path and into the brambles, or stumbling over rocks, we can pause and ask ourselves, "Is this what we want?" We can allow ourselves to be gently put back on the path. The light is shining bright! It beckons to all of us. We are heading in the right direction.

UPS AND DOWNS

There can be bumps, jostles and sharp pebbles on our path. Sometimes we wonder, "What is all this talk about love?" We are not sure we can love anybody. How could we drop into this pit of despair? Weren't we flying high just yesterday?

No matter the path, we need to learn. We need to learn about ourselves and how we interface with others. Our learning has been sped up and intensified by the energy flowing to the Earth. We are in a hurry to get our act together. We want to be totally loving beings. We reach a plateau of peace and love, and we think we have it altogether, and bang, we go crashing into relationship hell [either with ourselves or others].

This world is a profoundly crazy place. We have much unlearning and realization to do. We still have hidden things about ourselves, that were the result of our upbringing, that featured unworthiness from every corner. We came into this world as perfect loving beings, we still may carry pockets of outrage that nobody [or somebody] wouldn't love us. We bought into much, that crippled us, and we may still be outraged, by what didn't cripple us. We cannot live with outrage, so we hide it from ourselves, and it poisons us, until it is uncovered and released.

Combine our intent to be loving beings, with the increased energy, and we will find ourselves with a surprise bump on the path. We will be discouraged. Why not! Its okay. Of course we are discouraged; it seemed like everything was going so swimmingly. Who wants to stumble and fall into the brambles? But we know there are no real accidents. We know this happening is for our learning. Feel the discouragement; we don't need to minimize it. We don't need to wallow in it, either. Look higher. We have the dream of realizing we are loving beings. Focus on it. We are loving beings. We will get over our bloody noses and bruised egos.

We need to give up our past, but we need to keep our dreams close. We can dream of greatness. We can dream of paradise for everyone. Our dreams will manifest. Let us all take a step towards realizing our dreams today.

For many of us, this is not an easy time to live through. The dichotomy between, what we know could easily be, and the pain and injustice, so many seem to experience, is so great. We can dream of paradise, but we feel helpless, to assist those in misery. We certainly need to help all we can with our love and resources. We have learned, however, whether it is a country, group or individual, it doesn't help to join them in their misery. We need to help them and nurture them, when we can, but suffering with them won't relieve their pain.

Haven't we known people who are compassionate and understanding. They are beams of light to their families and acquaintances. They are comforting and reassuring to those in pain but they don't join with others in misery. Folks, with this consciousness, can uplift people in misery by their very presence, they don't need to acknowledge the pain around them.

We are all like that some of the time. We would like to be like that all of the time.

If we know our Oneness with all, we may see, how being happy ourselves, raises the consciousness of all.  Only in this illusion are we separate, in fact, we are inseparable. We are all beams of light, to varying degrees shrouded, the more we can release our doubts, the more light we will shine on the world.

When we stumble along our path and become discouraged; remember that we are clearing away old debris that was shrouding our light. We may be momentarily darker, until we see, or experience what caused the stumble. We may never fully understand it at a conscious level, but we have grown and our light, henceforth, will be brighter.

Keep the dream, of paradise for all, and let it happen in your own life.

Love and Peace,  Gregg

OUR IMMEDIATE FUTURE?

I have my click/clack keyboard back. The other one caused some weird noises, perhaps it needs to dry more.

This is another beautiful, beautiful Morning. We have been blessed with so many great Mornings this Summer. It was a little warm sleeping last night, but it is perfect now.

I have said before that I am not a prophet. In fact, I fall on my face, every time I try to predict the future. I have been right about some economic predictions, but my timing has not been all that good. My expectation, has been clear enough, that I have not been surprised. In any case, I don't derive, my guesses of the future, from thin air, they are generally a compilation of many other peoples guesses. Some times something feels right, and other times information doesn't sit well.

I have been feeling for many years that big changes were in the offing. Lately that feeling has been heightened. As I have said before, the world economic system is not sustainable. The austerity programs help no one, except the people who have money already [and I mean a lot of money]. The middle, and many in the upper middle class, are further hurt by these programs. Such disparity in income is not sustainable. There is no shortage of money, there is only a shortage of good will towards our fellow man.

BUT, things are changing. People are waking up, at a pace, that has never happened before. Folks, all over the world, refuse to continue as things have been. The simple advice, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF, has suddenly found its way into, almost, everyone's consciousness. We are, also, aware that loving some one else as yourself, means we need to love ourselves.

This energy, this consciousness of love, has become so powerful, it cannot be turned back, by those maintaining the status quo. This energy seems to be increasing everyday. It is unlikely that many of our institutions, especially financial ones, will survive much longer. September will be a crucial month.

Some people predict chaos, I don't see it. I see confusion. I see disorientation. I see many people needing reassurance and council. I don't see chaos. There are many folks, who have been dreaming of the emergence of reality, they will come forward and provide aid for those who need it. The collapse of the present system, and the redistribution of wealth, is really the easiest part.

The more difficult part, is discovering, that everything we think we know, has been corrupted by the lust for power and money. The old adage that, "history is written by the victor" can be extended to all knowledge. Our most recent empires, the Roman, the English, and the American, have created their own 'truth' to suit themselves. They have been quite successful, at using religion, to control people, and quell curious minds. They were able to turn us against Nature, as a source, for truth and knowledge. We are incredibly blind and don't know how blind we are.

BUT, we are WAKING UP.

We are beginning to 'tune in' to the reality of ourselves. We are paying attention to our intuition. We are beginning to sort the wheat from the chaff, or a modern way of saying it, the truth from the BS.

There are many people in our populace, who have their eyes open, or are ready to have them open. They will use their gifts to help those who need re-education. In communities, every where, there will be people springing up to help their neighbor.

Besides the, neighbor to neighbor assistance, there will be folks, who are dedicated to learning the truths, that have been lost, in our eon-long pursuit of power and money. I can imagine people gathering together to find, what we have lost, plus find new approaches in medicine, education, government, agriculture, science, and well, everything. Folks will come together, to create learning centers for their surrounding area.

We will begin to discover what Love is. We will begin to discover Nature. We will begin to discover who We are. We can turn our hearts and minds to seeing the Universe with awe and wonder. We may even get a glimpse of Source.

Its a great Friday!

MORE ON HUMILITY

It is 12:45PM and I am writing my first words. Yesterday, the UPS delivery man said, he would no longer come up our driveway, because there are too many branches that could scratch his truck. Our driveway is about a city block long, and there were indeed many branches, that arched over the drive. We went out yesterday and worked on it for a couple hours. Jamie said, "Why don't we go out in the Morning when it is cool and finish up." I said, "I need to blog." Jamie replied, "It should only take an hour. You will have the rest of the day and it won't be hanging over your head." Although, skeptical about that hour business, I agreed.

We got out there about nine and just got back. Over three hours of sawing, lopping and hauling branches. We did a good job and many Deer Flies and mosquitoes are enriched as well.

Monday, I had to stop blogging, before I thought I was finished, because of key board problems. Awhile ago, I had a malfunction of the keyboard I used for years. I washed it but it didn't cure the problem. In the meantime Jamie ordered me a new one. It was delivered in a couple days, but it is, no way, the quality of the one I had; same brand, same model. The keys are slightly smaller and overall quality looks poorer. My big fingers are not comfortable with it. Fortunately, we had a much older keyboard laying around that must have been from one of our earlier computers. The keys were raised and it clicked and clacked like a typewriter. It took a while to get used to but I learned to really like it. That is the one that gave out on Monday. The delete key and all those, in line, under it wouldn't work. It is amazing how often I reached for the delete key.

On Monday, I washed and scrubbed both the old keyboards. The recommendation is to use a dishwasher, but that is me, in this house; so I submerged them in the laundry tub, with lots of detergent, and then scrubbed them. I have been drying them out in the Sun. I hope it is successful. I don't really care too much for this new keyboard.

I don't know, what more I wanted to say about Humility. When, we are not involved with our ego, it is probably our natural state. As part of Source we are unlimited beings. Of course, we are equally unlimited beings. There is no higher and lower. We are all here with a gift, to give to each other. We have no way of assessing, if ones gift is more needed, or enriching to the whole, as another.

Any concern we have of self, limits the power of the love that flows through us. Any attitude, that is not humble, merely limits the light that we share. So as someone put it, "We need to keep our own sidewalk clean."

Like all teachers, I teach what I am trying to learn. We rarely are motivated to teach what we have mastered. We teach what we are struggling to master. A master may answer questions about what he knows; a teacher tries to understand what he has not quite grasped. We can be humble and still aim high, the universe is fascinating; there is much to learn.

I have dishes to wash and I need to catch up on some chores. Will Friday be back to normal?

Hold your light high.

Love and Peace,  Gregg

HUMILITY

It is another gorgeous day on Planet Earth. I was just watching a Gold Finch feed on the giant thistle outside my window. His head was graced with white fluff. I reached for my camera and that was his signal to fly away.

This is the lushest year in my memory. The year has favored some weeds over others; thistles and burdock have exploded. The vegetable garden needs harvesting. I see ripe tomatoes hanging on the vines. Cucumbers have got away from us. The first batch surpassed pickling size. Peas and beans need picking.

I wanted to talk about humility, but I am not sure I can. Perhaps I am not humble enough to really see what humility is. I think of humility as giving our gifts without reference to self.

Many of us, in the process of opening our eyes, see a lot more intellectually, than we have actually been able to incorporate into our lives. We may see how the world needs saving and focus on our part in it. We may see ourselves as a world saver, when we cannot grab our own ass with two hands.

We can't change the world by suggesting how other people live their lives. We can only get our own house in order. When we achieve peace and happiness, our light will shine. People will be attracted to the light. If folks ask for advice and counsel, then and only then, should one answer. Sure people may ask without words and there are times when we can offer help without an open request. However, we must tread carefully.

We can be helpful seeing through, the layers of superficiality, people present. We can practice seeing the perfect being that is all of us. If we know we are love and the other is love, do we need to see the ego manifestations?

We need to be aware of our own ego manifestations. Do we secretly, or not so secretly, want to be a savior? Do we really think we know how to save the world? Or save anyone? Several keys on my keyboard decided not to work. The delete and return buttons and the rest on that end of the boardboard.     Love and Peace,  Gregg     g  I will continue if I can figure it out. wat                                                                                                                                                     THAT S thaR sac rellsectsecretelys

GOOD NEWS

My computer isn't fried! I plugged into an extension cord, going to a different outlet, and wow, it worked. I don't know what could have happened to the outlet. I didn't check it first thing, because half the outlet is working. Maybe, it is just a extreme form of rebooting.

I have two grand kids here and much planned. Too late for a blog today. We will meet here Monday.

Keep your light high!

PERHAPS NO BLOG

Lightening last night fried my computer. I am writing this via my ipad. I will write as soon as I am able.

STORIES

It is almost ten and it is still only 66F, a little cool this time of year. It is nice though, we really enjoy the cool nights for sleeping. It has been getting down to the low fifties the last three nights.

Folks love stories. From ancient times we passed down our knowledge through stories. Every culture has its fables that carry the lore from one generation to the next. In times past, it was the most common way to disseminate knowledge. Now we have much recorded in books, films etc. but the basic vehicle, remains the same, the story.

We easily recognize stories, such as Aesop's Fables, Hans Christian Anderson's and Grimm's fairy tales, plus Bible Stories and myriad stories of unknown origin, that have shaped our view of the world.

We are less aware of the stories in medicine, archeology, anthropology, psychology, physics, art, literature, geology, chemistry etc. that have shaped our thinking. All our beliefs from the origin of man to the formation of ice crystals are shaped by stories.

When we first hear a story whether it is about cholesterol, diet, climate change, the formation of frost on the windshield, the creation of gas in our large intestine, it doesn't matter the subject; if we take it in without awareness, it is there influencing our beliefs. The more appealing the story, the more it becomes entrenched. The truth of a story, is not the first thing that comes to us. We first react to the appeal, that occurs at many levels. As propagandist have discovered, repetition is a crucial factor in cementing a belief.

From our first awareness as infants, the stories our parents accepted began to shape us. From a very early age, stories shaped us directly.

At some point, stories not only came from outside, we started telling ourselves, our own story. Many of these stories had to do with our relative worthiness and competence. We could spin stories of our heroism or humiliation. We may speak them, out loud, or only in daydreams.

Stories are a very powerful influence on our lives. They can distort, and hold us back, intellectually, and rule our emotions. We don't realize how they shape our most simple, and what we think as, our most logical, beliefs.

The process of awakening includes the awareness of how stories have influenced  our lives. We need to recognize, that we hang on to beliefs and ideas, based on stories we have heard and they may not be true. Much of what we believe, are stories, originating from, what we think of as, an authority. We can't know, and experience everything, ourselves. We depend on knowledgeable people, in a field, to teach us something. However, we must be aware, there is no unimpeachable source. Being aware, that so and so, states this to be true, doesn't make it true. There is no compunction for us to accept it. When we have no way of directly discerning the truth for ourselves, the information can remain in the 'interesting' category; we are not compelled to believe anything.

Whenever we see, that fear is being used to propel a story, the probability is that, it is not true.

We want to awaken, we want truth. To see clearly, we need to give up all the old stories that have influenced us. We can start fresh. We don't need beliefs. We won't find out, who we are, with our minds cluttered with the nonsense, inculcated from our culture.

We especially need to give up the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves, and each other. I had some recent deaths in my extended family, and it made me aware, that we will never get to know anybody, if we focus on the stories that we think made up a person's past. We are not the stories, that we tell ourselves, or are told about us. We will never know our true magnificence, as long as we hang onto these stories, as having value.

Awakening means giving up the past, and SEEING. I know, I know, it is easy to say; why does, doing it, seem so difficult? Know we are on the path. The power of love is in the present moment. If we keep bring ourselves back to the moment, we will see.

ENLIGHTENMENT

The cool air came in overnight. I closed three of our downstairs windows, before I went to bed. I left one window open in the living room and one in the kitchen and pantry. The temperature got down to 50F outside and low 60s in the house. What a difference! It is very refreshing. Perhaps, a little too refreshing. It is warming up; it is 66.2 outside now.

I want to talk about enlightenment. I can't describe it with full knowledge, because my eyes are only cracked open. However, I surmise it is a time when we do not have to think about loving everybody. We just will. I imagine, we will not doubt our own worth and will see the worthiness in all others. Judging, another or ourselves, will never enter our minds. We won't need to commune with Nature, we will feel and understand our oneness with Nature, on and ongoing basis.

We will be able to give up all the stories, that have shaped how we think and feel, and we will be able to see directly, what is. We will take for granted our oneness with Each Other, Nature and Source. We will know we are pure energy. We will know we are Unconditional Love.

Each one of you may add to this idea, of what Enlightenment is.

We want to reach this state! In our zeal to grow, we may hamper ourselves. Enlightenment is something that will happen when we are ready. Like all growth it occurs at the end of a process. It is like getting your adult teeth. It is like learning to talk or walk. It happens when it is time to happen. We can't make it happen. We can only go on continuing to remind ourselves who we really are- beings of Love. When we catch ourselves judging; we remind ourselves, we will never know enough to judge. When we catch ourselves being angry; we gently remind ourselves, anger is never helpful. When we catch ourselves out of the love stream, we steer ourselves back into the Light.

We cannot try! We didn't try to get our teeth to erupt. We don't try to make our heart beat.

We, beings of planet Earth, are caught in a guilt/punishment cycle. We absorbed it from our culture. We have been marinated in it. It is fostered by our major religions; but we can't avoid it, by avoiding religion- because it is everywhere. It is largely unconscious. Every time we err, we punish ourselves someway. It will be mild or severe depending on our nature and the error.

When we try to be enlightened, we see our errors more glaringly, and therefore punish ourselves more harshly. We may not realize we are doing it. It may take a bit of honesty to see how we are doing it. The stronger our impatience, with our present state, and our eagerness to be enlightened, the more we will focus on our lapses into judgement, anger, jealousy, fear, and all our other silliness.

SO LET US LOVE OURSELVES AND NOT JUDGE OURSELVES. So let's relax. We will get there. We cannot, not get there. Sure we need intent. It is good to have some image of the goal. We will get there by being aware of our Love not focusing on our errors.

Enlightenment is not the end. What do we do when we get there? Enlightenment is another level, like adulthood. We don't stop evolving. We see more, which will define how we can be of greater service.

Well, today is a Great Day! It is Jamie's birthday. We are planning to go to St Cloud, and go to an establishment, that has a Jazz night, and enjoy the music. We, also, plan on dining out. We haven't picked the restaurant yet. Wish Jamie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
