Intuition can be guidance and vice versa but for discussion purposes let's look at how they are used differently.
The word intuition is usually reserved for those episodes of suddenly seeing. Suddenly seeing clearly the motivation behind someone's agenda for instance or seeing clearly a solution to a problem that you were flummoxed about. It occurs everyday when you are listening to the news and something triggers your B.S. detector. You just know something is not true but you don't have any evidence at hand.
Many folks have purchased items based on their intuition and and later they researched it and discovered they did the right thing.
Guidance can take many forms. It can be intuition but it also can be a nudging. I am talking about the guidance that comes from self. Guidance can come from outside the self but unless it clicks with your being it cannot be trusted. Many times I have had guidance come through other people, something said to me in a way to cut through some resistance I was having to a truth.
Every day guidance often comes in a nudging. I usually do my chores at a regular time day in, day out, varying with the season. Sometimes I will be sitting doing my crossword puzzle in the Morning and I keep getting this urging to get my animal chores done when I don't really think it is time yet. Whenever I have ignored these urgings I have created an inconvenience for myself. The reason for the urging becomes clear when a neighbor comes up the driveway wanting to visit at the time I usually go out to do the chores. I might get an urging to go to town for some business on a Monday when I had been planning to go on Tuesday. I ignore the guidance and find ten inches of snow greeting me on Tuesday Morning.
For the rest of this discussion let us refer to both of these phenomena as guidance. Living in the 'now' requires us to be able to listen to what ourselves are telling us. Moment to moment there is a part of us that knows exactly what we should be up to. Meditation and other ways of quieting the mind are stressed because we cannot 'hear' guidance when our minds are going a mile a minute. One, also, has to learn the difference between guidance and wayward thoughts and tricks of the ego. That is not as difficult as it may seem as true guidance has a clarity about it. With a little practice of following one's nudges, a person learns to sort out, the true and false, fairly easily.
I am raising this point at this time because soon we will be responsible for creating a new society. As the Old World collapses we will need to come together and ask ourselves, what kind of a world do we want? What is government for? Why should we have one? What should it look like? What should our relationship with Mother Earth be? What kind of organizations are desirable? What kind do we need? What should education look like? How about health service?
With our rise in consciousness we will see things very differently than we do now. With all the fear programming of the last several thousand years eliminated we will see a different world. Folks are going to need to come together and allow guidance to flow from Source for this creative endeavor.
Big changes are going to happen sooner than later. The best way we can prepare ourselves is to love all the time. Remember Love. If we remember love we will find living in the 'now' easier. We will find the will and the way to release the past.

CELEBRATION
It feels like I haven't written for a long time. I didn't intend to miss Friday, but the contractor finished Thursday and it was time for us to do some finishing up. Friday I hooked up the washer/dryer. It required a new cord because of some change in electrical codes. In the process of rewiring it, I discovered it was packed with lint that somehow escaped into the chassis. Jamie and I cleaned it out and Jamie discovered how it was leaking and we repaired it. It works like new.
I am late writing today because I was helping Jamie put a day bed together that was sitting on our porch, boxed up, for two months waiting for the addition to be completed.
We had a small, just us [Jamie, me, Naomi and Elijah] party for my birthday. We had a great time. I love to celebrate events. I came from an extended family that loved to celebrate. My Mother was the oldest of nine children and we lived less than two blocks from my Grandparents home. The youngest of my Mothers siblings went through school with me. She was a senior in High when I was a freshman. I had Great Aunts that lived only three blocks away and another set of Grandparents almost as close.
Besides the usual holidays, we got together for every birthday. There wasn't a month that went by that we didn't have a celebration. Through my child's eyes the celebrations were great. My relatives got along well with each other and enjoyed being together. Drinking was always part of the celebration but overindulgence was not common. I wasn't aware of the problem drinking could have for some people until I was a young adult. Intellectually I was aware of alcohol abuse but I didn't see it in my family when I was growing up. I did observe it later but that is another story.
I loved family parties. They were great. Besides birthdays, we celebrated St Patrick's Day, Valentines Day, George Washington's Birthday etc. The whole extended family didn't get together for the more minor occasions; but my Mother would make a cherry pie on George Washington's Birthday, for instance.
As my maternal Grandparents aged the joint celebrations became less frequent. I don't if it was just my family or the whole culture but folks seemed to celebrate less. Like all families, mine had their share of negatives as well as positives and for me to grow up I had to find ways to separate from them. I learned that many families did not celebrate the events of their lives.
I always enjoy celebrating my Birthday. In fact, in our family we have The Birthday Week. Jamie doesn't emphasize it as much as I do. The celebration must begin with the person having the birthday. I can't see any reason for one to wait around hoping others will acknowledge your birthday. If it is my Birthday, I feel, the celebration must go from me to the other. The celebration must radiate from me. And it does.
It seems to me folks don't look for reason to celebrate their lives. Big birthday parties are not as common as they used to be. Is that just my perception? Maybe, I can't be sure. Of course it doesn't matter what we celebrate, it does matter that we celebrate.
We need to celebrate. Celebration chases away a lot of negativity. We need to celebrate Love. We need to consciously look for things to celebrate. We need to celebrate the New Age. We need to help the New Age emerge by celebration. Let us celebrate each others existence. Let's let our love for each other overflow.

BE GOOD TO TO YOURSELF
My older brother always ends a message with "Be good to yourself". What a profound message this is. Have we been? This is a time of many mini-struggles. We are collectively on the verge of paradise. But our egos ask us, "Are we worthy?"
As we see the possibility of paradise, all our instincts for separation [ego] attempt to reverse course. The ego is masterful at using shame and guilt against us. Ancient hurts and supposed sins arise in our consciousness. Where forgiveness is necessary, you or the other, do so. But don't listen to the message of unworthiness.
We are all worthy. There is no ands, ifs or buts about it. We are all one and part of the Unconditional Love that created us. We cannot be anything else. Some of us took deep journeys into darkness, but we did not stop being the lighted beings that we are. Our Source did not judge us. Why would we? Judgement comes from separation [ego]. Its is not real. The world we have been looking at for the last few thousand years does not exist. It was created by fear, therefore, is illusion.
When our thoughts invite us to judge ourselves, know that they are encouraging us to extend the illusion and perpetuate a world we don't want.
We need to remind ourselves, constantly, that the only reality is what is created with love. What is not love does not exist.
So let's be good to ourselves. Respect yourself. Treat yourself tenderly. For the last several eons we have let our minds rule our hearts. How pathetic is that? Our minds left unleashed will never treat us with the love and dignity we deserve. The mind is a tool that needs to be subservient to the heart if it is to function properly. Love needs to guide our every thought, word and action.
Let us be nice to ourselves. Let us respect ourselves. When we truly love ourselves, then we can truly love others.
Meanwhile, here on Laughing Water Farm everything is going along nicely. Our chickens are laying eggs faster than we can eat them. We must have five dozen in the refrigerator. We love being able to give eggs to our friends and neighbors. I got my amaryllis potted. I plant them in the garden every spring and dig them in the Fall. Some people leave them in the pots and just put them outside in the Summer. I guess that works okay. Some of my bulbs are over thirty years old. They multiply and I need to share them with folks. I like to keep it down to six or seven bulbs. This year when I went to the hardware store to buy some potting soil, the owner gave me two bulbs they didn't sell. A deep red color. I try to time their bloom to come in the gloom of Pre-Spring, middle to late February. We appreciate the burst of color and life, especially at that time.
We are finally getting closure on our addition. They are installing the glass shower doors today and completing some odds and ends. The plumber is coming tomorrow to install the fixtures and connect the water. I will be moving my computer into the den/library area this weekend.
Well, I got to get at my dishes. Remember, we are all loving beings.

REMINDERS
I am aware I need reminders. Sometimes I appreciate it. I am always aware that I create with my thoughts, but I am not always responsible. I sometimes tolerate a bad mood or some kind of funk when I am perfectly capable of changing my mind.
We have been controlled by stories. We love stories. Stories that we are the freest people in the world. We are the most generous. We are the healthiest. We are the best at whatever. You know the drill. The stories are often wrapped in patriotism and the flag. Some times these stories exalt us and at other times they denigrate us; e.g. we are too fat, our cholesterol is to high, we are not competitive. It goes on and on. There are millions of stories that attempt to define and control us.
Every time we interface with the mass media, we are inundated by these stories. Some times their message is subtle, sometimes obvious. These stories are never the whole story and therefore never the truth.
These stories are used to shape our minds so we will go along with some preposterous plan that enriches a few at the cost of the many.
We need to stop looking outside ourselves for a definition of who we are. We know who we are. We are part of source. We are one. We are Love. We need to reject all stories that tell us something else. Some of us will need to explore the origin of these stories, turn them over and see their purpose; look at how they shaped our consciousness and made it possible for us to engage in terrible things like war and the demonizing of the poor. Others are able to take one look and step out of it; realizing nothing the culture teaches is true, on the face.
WE HAVE BROKEN FREE! Yes we have. The consciousness of humanity as a whole has risen to the level that we can no longer can be controlled. We need to step out of the miasma these stories have created and begin to see the truth. We don't need to walk through life with our heads down, either fearful or waiting permission, we are free.
What stops us now? We do. We stop ourselves with our thoughts. With our fears. With our inability to trust in who we are. We need to eliminate our own negative thinking. When we have or eyes half open, we may see clearly our neighbor's [wife's, husband's, friend's] negativity. The temptation is to try to help them. We can't. We really don't know what we see until our eyes our fully open. When our eyes are fully open we will often see they didn't need correction, they just needed love. We will help everyone by removing our own negativity. What did one of our great one's say, "First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye"
We are at as point in our evolution where the only thing keeping us back is our own thoughts. As each one of us steps out into paradise, the rest of us get a glimmer. This year, 2014, is the year the masses will see more than a glimmer. The truth behind the stories will become obvious. Many who are seasoned skeptics will be shocked at how they have been manipulated. Look for technologies, that have long been suppressed, to make a huge difference in our lives. We will see the beginning of the end of our dependence on fossil fuels. We will see the beginning of the end of polluting the environment. Massive cleanup of the environment will commence. We will see the possibility of a pristine Earth.
Let today be the beginning of our New Golden Age.

WINTER WEARY
I have to admit to being a mite weary of Winter. I don't like to admit it because it sounds like a complaint, which I admonish people not to do. Well, you folks know I am far from perfect and, as I have said before a teacher teaches what he/she is trying to learn. Yes, complaining engenders more to complain about. It is not the best idea.
Actually, this is a perfect Winter day. It was below zero when I got up, it is about 4F now. I watched the Sun come up. It was a sparkling clear Morning, it was a wonderful experience.
I loaded my toboggan with my water containers. I use two, they hold about six gallons. I haul my toboggan out to the barn area, about a hundred yards. The chickens are happy to get water. They flock around me and pick the snow off my shoes when I enter the coop. I usually let the chickens out in the Winter. This year I haven't. There haven't been many warmish days and they have no where to go. The main reason though, is that I added some new pullets right before the snow storm, that pivoted us suddenly into Winter rules. I don't want to let them out and discover they won't go back in. I would be gathering them from roosts in the barn or low hanging trees. That is not something I want to do on a dark cold evening. Usually winter doesn't come so suddenly and I have time to make sure they are properly oriented to their new home.
Yesterday, as I was going through the pasture gate, on the way to the chicken coop, I caught my foot in the toboggan rope and made a nose dive in the snow. Now, I slip and fall two or three times every winter. Generally, it is that slip and lose the balance kind of thing, where one frantically waves their arms in a futile effort to stay upright. I generally fall on my back and have to roll over and crawl to a fence post or tree to pull myself up. It was new experience to be face down spread eagled in the snow. I was happy to discover my glasses were still on my face.
There is a point in mid-winter where many of us long for Spring. We are eager to take on the challenges of the coming Season and it still seems so far away. And this year.............we have been listening to the promise of a New Age. We know the light is shining more and more intensely. We see people waking up. We see the light shining from our friends eyes. We know it won't be long before there is evidence of institutional change. Yet the mass media shouts its usual blather of fear and violence; yes, we need to shut it down. We need to listen to our hearts and follow our visions of love.
We discover as we take one day at a time, love every minute and care tenderly for those around us; it's not so bad. It is not so weary after all. Life is full of wonderful things. Each day is a great celebration. Each day is a little brighter. We discover that as we give love, love comes pouring back to us. As Spring sleeps under the Winter, waiting to emerge when the time is right; Our New Age of Love is getting ready to push up through the rubble of the Old World. Let us shine our light on all around us and help it emerge.
Have a great weekend!

ANOTHER DAY ON PLANET EARTH
Winter came back. It was -7F this morning, but it is warming up nicely. It is 13F now. It didn't feel cold doing the chores this Morning. We had four to five inches of snow yesterday Morning. It brightened everything up.
We have an old crab apple tree that bears large marble size fruit. Every day I walk by it on my way to the barn. The fruit hang on it all Winter long. The snow under it is beaten down by deer and rabbits. The deer reach as high as they can to pick the fruit. They knock some down which the rabbits eagerly consume. This year we don't have overwintering Robins {they must have known it was going to be a cold Winter}. In the Spring they will feast on the remaining apples. We often have flocks of Cedar Waxwings that visit the tree in late Winter.
Our new addition is finally getting completed. The target date for completion is next Thursday. That is the day before my 79th birthday. Yup, I will be starting my eightieth year next week. Wow! Time flies when you are having fun.
I am a quick learner in some senses, other ways not. I grasp things intellectually quickly, but emotionally learning can be like wearing away a stone. Psychological and Spiritual information I absorb like a sponge in terms of the intellect. But having that awareness become real in my entire being is another matter.
For instance, I understood the value in letting go of the past over 40 years ago. I devoured Carlos Castaneda's books as they came out and completed the Course in Miracles three times in the early '80s. Yet no matter how good we are at understanding things intellectually, making it part of our being is another thing. I was reading an article the other day where the teacher said [I paraphrase] "I know you give lip service to not judging, yet I know you do it a mile a minute." I had to laugh out loud. Despite constantly reminding myself not to judge, I find myself doing so.
Getting back to letting go of the past. Wouldn't be nice if we could do it once and for all? Some of us are doing it gradually[me] and some are able to do it in one felled swoop.
So much of our judgements and perhaps all of our fear comes from past experience. Wouldn't it be great to carry that peaceful mind we discover in meditation all day long? Oh, I know we can. With intent and practice, we will.
Despite our foibles and the fact that we don't measure up to some ideal we have, we must not cast aspersions on ourselves. We are talking about loving our neighbor as our self, here. If we want to love those around us, we need to start with ourselves. We need to treat ourselves with dignity and respect. We need to be gentle with ourselves. A great aid to our learning is a good sense of humor. When we find ourselves slipping into judgement or some other foible, a hearty laugh will bring us into the present and dispel the judgement. If we find ourselves laughing all the time, all the better.

NOW
We have had a bit of relief from the cold. It has been very pleasant the last three days. We have more snow in the forecast and then it will turn cold again. However, I think it will be 'normal' Winter, not the extreme cold of last week.
I glance at the writings of people who like to make predictions. They seem to all agree we are at the end of an age. The difference is some see it as a calamity; a collapse of economic and social structure that it will take generations to crawl out of. Others observe a rise in consciousness which will enable folks to let down the economic system gently while being replaced with one that is substantial.
I certainly don't know, but I agree with those who believe in a gentle transition. The light is intensifying to such a degree, that I can't imagine anything but a gentle, even glorious, transition.
Guidance comes when our minds are quiet. The more we can be in the 'now' the better we will see.
As we have discussed before, the controlling factions are not going to give up easy. They don't like relinquishing power. They will create as much chaos as they can, and since they still have control of the mass media, we will hear about it.
We can ignore them. We can live our lives, love our families and neighbors, take care of each other and ignore the news.
Yes, we can live in our family, community and social units and enjoy our lives. As we express our love for one another, we will be building the new social structure that we have been dreaming of. We will see everybody as equal. No more divisions because of gender, racial, national, sexual preference, or other descriptions. We will recognize everybody's right to make their own choices. We are free and we help everyone else to be free. It goes without saying that one's expression of freedom cannot limit another's freedom. Can that be an issue when we see ourselves as one?
Many of us have already discovered that giving and receiving are the same. Another way of saying this is; we can only give to ourselves. The more we give, the more we enrich our lives. We all have a gift that enhances our lives and others. In the new world we are creating everyone will have the opportunity and necessary leisure to discover their gifts. Everybody has something they love to do; whether it is woodworking, carpentry, weaving, plumbing, electrical work, art, gardening, animal husbandry, medicine, dentistry, philosophizing etc., it is all a contribution to the whole.
The media is gradually shifting, but until it does, we need to ignore the siren call to fear. We will be invited to fear the future. We must learn to reject all invitations to fear.
Let us bring ourselves back to the now when ever we find our minds straying. Love is here, 'now'. Let us remind ourselves throughout the day [every day] that we are magnificent beings of love. All we can do is love.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
It is a warm 24 degrees F. Finally, a break in the cold that has gripped this land. In any other season of the year one would be puzzled if someone described 24F as warm; such do our bodies and minds get used to the 'what is'.
We are on a journey towards rediscovering our birthright, from which we were deprived thousands of years ago. Part of this process is to see clearly how we've been manipulated and controlled by those who sought power. We have been manipulated to the degree that most of what we take for granted and deem as true in not true. We can test the veracity of any system, institution, idea etc. by asking ourselves, "Was this created by unconditional love; does it reflect unconditional love." If it doesn't meet this test it is part of the illusion and not true.
We created our present illusion out of fear. We have been encouraged to do this by a handful of folks who have gained and maintained power using fear. They, themselves, are subject to the same fear that they have fomented in the rest of us. They are now afraid of losing their control. With every person who wakes up and opens their eyes, their power diminishes.
How much do we need to understand about the manipulation, past and present, to let go and decide we are going to join those who are committed to create with love? I assume it is different for each person. Some need to explore and explore and explore the extent to which we have been manipulated. Others seem to be satisfied by only a glimpse and drink truth like a thirsty camel. Some seem to do both at the same time.
We want to appreciate enough of the horror of this old world, that we can give it up and not look back. We don't want to deny the horror. We can see it, right now, all around us; war, violence, domination, torture, false imprisonment, victimization of the poor, manipulation of all kinds. Yet we can see it without becoming absorbed in the images. It isn't going away by joining in a fight or becoming fascinated by the machination of the controllers.
We can't create a new world while we fight and reject the old world. We need to do what we can to make life easier for everyone we meet. All are our brothers and sisters, all are equal children of Source. All need our love. We need to reach out to all we can help without getting embroiled in their view of the world.
Yes, we need to appreciate how bad the old world was/is; when we have been convinced about the level of deception and decide we don't want to do it anymore, it is time to envision the new world.
How do we begin? Wherever we are standing on the planet at this moment; that is where we start. We look around and love what we see. No matter what greets our eyes we can see through the haze and see the love. For most of us, depending where we are, love will just jump out at us, there is no haze to see through. If we find ourselves in a painful situation, we may have to see past it, through it or despite it, but the love is there.
We create a New World by seeing and saying, "Hey, that old world was made of fear. I am going to create one of love" Then we must remind ourselves to stay focused on love. Let love be our guide no matter what we are doing.
We are here to discover what love is and help our neighbor find it. And we are doing that.
The light is increasing. We are well past the point where turning back is possible. Before the year is out peace will reign on earth and a New World will be unmistakeable. There will be a few that have a hard time seeing. We can help them.

PERCEPTION
Tonight is the last night it will be below zero, for a little while at least. It is forecast to be -21F. We have a ground source geothermal heat system. The main part of our house is over hundred years old and probably leaky. When it gets down to -10F we fire up one of our wood stoves. When it gets down to -20F we will often fire up the other. We have one in the dining room and one in the living room. It increases my chores but it is well worth it. If one was satisfied with house temps in the 60s the heat pump would do well on its own. We like it cozy. I like to be comfortable wearing a t-shirt. T-shirts and jeans are my informal wear. {Come to think of it- that is my formal wear too}
It actually has been a spate of beautiful weather. The Sun has been bright and one can feel the heat returning. I am amazed that the animals are so little affected by the cold. Of course the sheep are very wooly but the goats aren't. The goats get out and Sun themselves. They enjoy themselves whatever the weather is.
Don't you sometimes see that we live in paradise? Several times in the last few days I was struck by the incredible beauty of the world. Yet, there are times when I can traverse the same landscape, and see only the out-picturing of a dismal mind. Wow, we can look at the same landscape and see two entirely different things. I know you know that. We all do it. And all the time.
Our teachers have emphasized that is our choice what we see. By now I think we all know it. Yet we find ourselves being lured back into seeing a world created by dismal thoughts.
Let us not lose hope or get unduly frustrated. If we have intent to see correctly we will. Like anything else it takes practice. We have been programed to experience life through a haze of fear thoughts. We have been encouraged to be afraid of everything. We can't see paradise when we are afraid.
We were created by source to be happy. We were meant to create our surroundings with love. There must have been a time when we knew our connection with source and we experienced paradise. At some point we decided to create without source. It was probably okay for quite awhile. However, separation invites fear. When we knew all is one; what was there to fear? We knew our 'Oneself'. When we decided to be separate; then whom is the other? Fear entered in, that was the end of paradise.
Now we are on our journey back. Only our perception keeps us from seeing reality. The reality that all is one and all is Love. Hang on to those glimmers of paradise. Notice the peace in your mind when you see the beauty of the world. We can have that peace all the time. Through that peace we will bring the new world into focus.
Keep in mind that perception is our choice. We can see heaven or hell in the same data matrix. We don't need to make negative interpretations.
Imagine a circle. The circle is filled with dots. The circle is a lens of our mind. The dots are thoughts. Now draw a line down the middle. All negative thought are on one side, the positive on the other. We don't need to attempt to erase the negative half. That creates conflict. Just look through the positive side of the lens. The thoughts, that are focused on, become dominant. Those thoughts, that are ignored, gradually fade away.
Throughout the day let's pay attention to what part of the lens we are looking through. Looking through the positive side of the lens is very reinforcing.
Let us open our eyes and greet life with great joy.

WEATHERING THE WEATHER
Our sheep and goats have plenty of hay. Our pullets started laying a couple of weeks ago; we got eleven eggs yesterday. The builders are back putting the finishing touches on our addition. All is well with or world. It was -24F this morning and a pipe under our sink was frozen for a couple hours; just part of weathering the storm.
It is just a small storm. Our old ways of thinking wedded to violence, dominance, inequality, competition etc. are passing. Love is washing the old away.
In the meantime, the members of planet earth wonder why there is not more evidence of change in their institutions. Oh there is a glimmer here and there, Pope Francis is a breath of fresh air. We look for more.
There is more, much more. We need to remember that the press is controlled by those who want to maintain the old world. The control is beginning to weaken, there will be a clear breakthrough soon.
Enlightenment starts with each individual to the whole. If we look around us we see that folks are opening their eyes. They no longer are interested in being manipulated into supporting policies that hurt one segment of society. They are no longer interested in being badgered into going to war with their planetary neighbors. We are beginning to see, that whenever we are invited to have an enemy, we are being manipulated for someone else's gain.
Our institution are made up and supported by us. Our institutions will change when the folks that make them up turn to love as the solution to all. Those folks who cannot stand the intensity of the light, that is soon to be obvious, will drop out or change.
2013 was a year of preparation. 2014 will be a year of the great shift in consciousness. We are prepared, but each of us as individuals face our own evolution. We all face our private war between the light and the dark.
Just as the world as a whole resists change, we as individuals struggle with our egos. That part of us that is used to judging, thinking it better or worse than someone else, doesn't feel its connection to the whole; that part of us struggles to maintain.
As we get closer to accepting we are free, loving beings, loved unconditionally by source our egos make a final attempt to hang on. We will weather what we need to weather. Know those thoughts of separation, e.g. anything not love, are not yours. They arise from old programs that you are giving up or they come from outside negative influences. In either case they are not real. They are part of the illusion. We can ask for help from our guides in protecting us from outside thoughts. Old programs can be given up. The past is past and cannot hurt us. We will become good shepherds of our thoughts.
Let us hang in there. We will make it through whatever stormy weather comes our way. Keep dreaming of Paradise on Earth. It is here we need only to drop the scales from our eyes.

A NOTE FROM LAUGHING WATER FARM
No, my intention was not to skip Monday's and Wednesday's blog. I would have mentioned it before hand.
We had a birthday party for Elijah on December 21st. There were five children besides the adults in attendance. Elijah picked up a virus from one of the children. Well, after a day or so, Elijah got a bad cold. The rest of us made it through Christmas without getting sick. That bug had so much fun with Elijah it decided to try the rest of us. Jamie was the first to succumb. She was well into the disease by Thursday the 26th, I started to feel a little rasping in my throat on Saturday and Naomi began the journey on Sunday. The affliction took a different path with each of us. Jamie was all over sick; sinus headache, nausea, body ache, but she started improving in a couple days. As is my recent pattern, I wasn't really sick, but I got bronchitis that kept me coughing all night. I felt good during the day except for the sleep deprivation. Naomi was hit the hardest, with both nausea and a respiratory affliction that is still hanging on.
I was well enough to do my regular chores but I had the added concern of our dwindling hay supply. I had some hay left over from last year and we were able to pasture our animals until the first of December. I wasn't too worried about getting hay. It wasn't a great year for hay but there was a fair crop in our area. When I had a couple weeks supply left I contacted a former supplier and he said he would get some for me. Days went by no hay. He said it was hard to find but he had some if I had an emergency. More days went by. I checked around, good alfalfa hay was going for $10 a bale. Good quality grass hay was $6 a bale. Nothing was less than $5. At this point I didn't care about the expense. Farmers were not putting their hay up for sale; they were waiting for the auction at the Sale Barn.
I couldn't wait. On Monday I was down to half a bale and my hay man brought over six bales of the emergency supply he promised. He said he could get big bales and it would work out to be far less expensive than square bales. I have done that in the past but we don't have enough turn around space for a big trailer in our driveway. He said he could park his truck at the end of the driveway and haul the bales up one at a time with his fork lift and throw them over the fence.
Four large round bales were delivered New Years Eve. Three for the sheep and one for the goats. The hay for the goats was deposited within eye shot of the animals and being curious, they found it soon. I had to have the sheep's hay put in a place that they can't see. They have to round the corner of a building to find it. I will probably have to wade through the snow and lead them to it.
Anyway, on Monday I had my hands curled over the keys prepared to write. Earlier I had no sense of how tired I was, when I relaxed to let the words flow, tiredness came over me. All that I wanted to do was sit and space out. Tuesday, I was involved in the hay delivery and I had to run some errands. I was still hopeful of some kind of New Years Eve celebration. We celebrated very mildly.
Wednesday, I anticipated writing a New Years Greeting. I was looking forward to it. But no, it was a recharge the batteries day. I actually did get several things done that needed doing, like watering the houseplants and catching up on my bill paying. Yesterday, was my New Year, I awoke afresh, relaxed, energized and ready to go.
I am looking forward to a New Year. 2013 was a year of preparation. 2014 completes much of what started in the last year and is a pivotal point into our entrance into the New World.
As always, the solution is to stay in the moment and love. Love is chasing out the dark individually and collectively. Keep dreaming the dream of a loving world for all. More on Monday.
