AN ORDINARY DAY

I am done with my chores, my dishes are soaking. Its time to write. Yesterday, I took my camera out with me when I got the eggs; because, I wanted to take some pictures of our broilers, which are called, Freedom Rangers. Jamie told our niece that we would send some pictures. On the way, I snapped, what I thought would be significant art pictures: fluffy head of dandelion gone to seed, perhaps, the last of the season; a cluster of wonderful red crab apples; a display of goldenrod etc. Then I took several pictures of the chickens, going about their chickeny things.

Last night, before I went to bed, I decided to download my pictures into the computer. I got all set; I opened the camera and the memory card was not there. I neglected to put the card back in, after taking the last pictures. I wasn't as anguished as you might think. Its like the fish that got away; those pictures may have been the greatest I have ever taken.

I learned along time ago to look through a person's craziness {their ego} to see the beauty of their spirit. Interestingly enough, this is easier to do with people you don't know very well. With people you are intimate, your ego's overlap in such a way, that engagement of them [the egos] is always on the threshold. People in successful relationships learn to see their egospeak as static and disregard it; they focus on the brightness that shines from within the person. You learn to have a relationship with the real person and disregard the crap. In a growing relationship, the people are always helping each other "see" without the encumbrance of the ego.

We need to learn compassion for each others 'stuckness'. Not pity, that is a judgement that is diminishing. Pity puts a person in a box and defines them as lesser. Compassion is understanding their stuckness and acknowledging there greatness.

We need to see everybody's greatness. Don't get waylaid by a quirky personality trait or body configuration. Everybody has a bright shining light, even though circumstances may have dimmed it, in some. Let your own light shine brightly and you will better perceive it in others. That's what we are here for, to shine our light on each other. That's love.

Well my dish water must be cool enough to plunge my hands in. Will to "see".

ANOTHER COOL MORNING

It was in the sixties when I awoke this Morning, very pleasant. These last couple days have been a blessed relief. There is, still, a little too much moisture in the air, but, the lower temperatures makes it less noticeable.

There is only Love and Fear. For us, whom have dedicated ourselves, to seeing only Love, there arises a problem; dealing with our shadow selves. Living in duality, we developed opposing attributes for every attribute we embraced. That is what duality is all about. This shadow self, all those attributes you don't want acknowledged, now push for expression. Don't deny them. They will drive you crazy. Allow yourself to feel them. They, then, can be released. You can feel them without indulging them or acting on them. Allow yourself to be human.

Everything that isn't Love is Fear. Look closely at any negative emotion. Greed is fear of lack. Anger is fear that no one loves you. Hate is anger that no one loves you, which is the preceding. Envy is the fear that you are less deserving. Pride, haughtiness, etc, are fear that you are not as good as others. There is only Love. All negativity is based on the fear that one cannot love or be loveable.

As we watch the existing world implode, we may have varied reactions. The arrest of cabal officials are continuing. I think it will be reported in the mainstream media by the end of the month. They won't be able to hide it much longer. The news is readily assessable on the internet. I know that there will be some sense of satisfaction to see top level bankers go to jail for exploiting the people. They have ruined the economy and driven millions into poverty, in this country, and starvation globally. Look into your heart and find forgiveness. How would have you behaved if you were born into their bodies and had their nurturing experience? You don't know. In any case, in their future evolution, they are going to face what they did in order to grow.

I could talk about forgiveness a lot more. Forgiveness is the key to peace. You will never feel forgiveness yourself if you withhold it from others. {Of course, since it is all an illusion, there is nothing to forgive}. But we do live in this illusion and in this illusion, forgiveness is essential. Learn to think forgiveness, automatically, whenever you feel irritated.

As you strive to open your eyes, the negative things laying dormant, will attempt to express themselves. As mentioned earlier, don't deny them, allow yourself to feel them, you don't have to act on them. Forgiveness of self is key here.

In the preceding paragraph, I used the word strive. That is an error we will make. Since we are attaining enlightenment, without the aid of spiritual guides or an ashram, we will make this error again and again. You can not really try to grow spiritually. Trying, always, invites the ego to get involved. Growing spiritually is a matter of letting go, of unlearning. You can't try to unlearn. But you can let go of everything that is not love.

{We do, of course, have spiritual guides; but, they are not in these fleshly bodies, that we can see, and most of us can't hear them or are not sure when we do}

My dishes are awaiting and then I need to mow the lawn, which is beginning to resemble a hayfield.

PEACEFUL SUMMER MORNING

It seems quiet this morning. It is cool for a change; it has been awful hot and muggy these last few days. The absence of my four year old grandson, who is on an adventure with his Mom, may contribute to the quiet.

In a bizarre twist the stock market is up over two hundred points, this morning. I am not sure what it is measuring. In many ways, it already crashed and this follows the arrest of two bank officials, of the major bank of Ireland. If your interested; just search bank arrest. There are many arrest and investigations under way. Most people, who do in depth reporting on the economy, say the stock market is, and has been, artificially manipulated. The cabal has such vast amounts of money at their disposal, that this is probable. Keeping the stock market up, allows them to squeeze the most they can out of the people before they let it crash.

We are in for some interesting times, that is for sure. There may be a period where food prices soar. I haven't been paying too much attention to the drought in this country. When I was attending a family reunion Sunday, a young relative asked me about it. I hadn't realized that it included huge swathes of Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. I was aware of the drought in the Western part of the corn belt, but didn't realize it extended so far East. That could cause feed prices to sky rocket, which will impact meat prices. Corn, in the form of high fructose corn syrup, is an ingredient in many process foods. Prices in that area should be affected. I suspect you would be better off not eating that stuff anyway.

I mention these things, because they are curious, not because they are fearful. We have nothing to fear. In fact; fear is something to be eliminated from our consciousness. There are two major reasons.

Global: fear has been used to control the masses for all of our historical epoch. Monarchs, emperors, dictators, religions, governments of all types [including democracies] have used fear to control their people. Without the ability to instigate fear, there would be no war. People would have no reason to hate each other. The recognition of oneness would follow. You don't have to think very deeply to see how institutions, at all levels, have used fear to control.

Personal: we create our experience on this planet. We create using Love or Fear. What you fear you perpetuate or bring about. Obviously, not everything you fear happens, as you, also, have many countervailing thoughts. Any amount of fear, however, contributes to our unhappiness. When we awaken, we will have given up fear, in the meantime, pay attention to your mind, practice the letting go of fearful thoughts.

When the Buddha completed his long meditation he said, "I am awake". He could see the beauty of the real world and he recognized the world created by man, was all suffering. Many people have understood his teaching, but far less have been able to replicate his vision.

We, now, are at a time when thousands of folks are on the verge of awakening. Many, many are able to see through the illusion of pain and suffering, that we have made for ourselves. As each person, nears opening his/her eyes, the energy increases for the rest of us and aids us in opening our eyes.

Celebrate the Great Awakening and I will go do my dishes and see the love in them.

THE EGO

Our trip to enlightenment would be a lark if it wasn't for that ego we developed to deal with separation in this density. While we were still connected to source our ego served us well, by helping us differentiate self from the environment and it protected us, as we explored an unfamiliar world. When we lost touch with source, we began to depend on it to interpret and make judgements about our surroundings.

The ego began to have a life of its own; or, at least it thought so. The ego realized its dominance depended on you not realizing who you were. As long as the ego could keep you convinced you were limited to a body, it could stay in control.

The ego occupies that noisy part of the mind, the place where thoughts race around, the place where worry and fear live. The ego constantly stresses our separateness and enhances the danger of the space outside our bodies.

For thousands of years, the solution to the ego's dominance has been meditation, to learn how to quite this noisy part of the mind, and it is quite successful. However, now we have thousands seeking enlightenment and they all can't go to ashrams and receive spiritual guidance to relinquish their egos.

As individuals we have to learn as we go. The ego is very threatened at the idea of our seeking oneness. It fears losing its identity, when the ego panics it causes all kinds of stress. The more we are determined to grow, in our understanding of oneness, the more the ego fights back. Its aim is to make you feel as miserable as possible through self criticism.

One of the ego's favorite tricks is to seduce you into doing, saying, or thinking something and then torturing you later when it is successful. Later can be in five minutes, the next day, or months from now.

The solution, of course, is awareness; the more we observe the machinations of the ego, the less power it has. We can't fight it, we can only observe. Any reaction to it; just feeds it. Allow yourself to feel what the ego is inviting you to feel; but, do not try to figure it out. Feel the feeling and watch it fade without internal comment. We have accumulated pockets of negativity in our long sojourn on this Earth. Since we, now, yearn to wake up, these old programs arise to the surface. They can provide fuel for the ego, but if you can just experience the feeling, without comment, the ego will not be reinforced.

This is a very difficult time but, also, a time of great promise. It is easy to get discouraged when self-criticism keeps you from realizing how beautiful and magnificent you are. Yet the energy, that encourages oneness, is very high and we have a great deal of help at the spiritual level. When you find yourself bogged down by negativity ask your higher self for help, be confident, because help will be there.

You made your ego, but you are not your ego. You are an amazing being of light, here to experience and learn from living in a body, immersed in duality.

Focus on who you are; a perfect being of light. Unconditional love. As you experience who you are, the remembrance of the ego, fades in the background.

AS LIFE GOES ON

The baby chickens we bought for sustenance, they are called broilers, are now five weeks old. They are almost big enough to roam free. We raise them until they are eight to ten pounds. They are a wonderful thing to bring out of the freezer on a cold Winter day and roast in the oven. We, also, have lamb. We only have one extra ram lamb and we will probably keep him until Spring, as he was born late.

Our garden is doing great. Jamie put up several packages of peas and we will have an excess of beans, onions and potatoes. Our laying hens keep us in fresh eggs and we have a few to give away. These old biddies are getting old, some at least ten years old, it is a wonder they lay at all. I hope to replenish the flock this Fall.

The weather has been unusually hot, but bearable; the mosquitoes are barely tolerable. As I mentioned before, the Summer is flying by.

Despite the supposed tranquility of Summer days. I sense an urgency in people. We can feel the changes that are coming upon us. Every day the economy seems more and more on the verge of collapse. Or has it collapsed already? The big banks are teetering; the extent of their criminality is beginning to be exposed.

Folks, also, feel an urgency to get their own acts together. We know that a new age is about to emerge; an age in which the individual acknowledges their oneness. We will see that everybody is us. Our assumed separateness is just a lark. Separateness can be fun, if you know it is not true. It is just an experiment in this particular illusion.

We will see the need to treat everybody as we want ourselves to be treated. Are you ready? No more judging your neighbor. No more judging yourself. The universal acceptance that all are loved unconditionally. The recognition that we are all here to serve each other.

The ego will fight you tooth and nail and attempt to sabotage any gain you make. Its only life is in separateness. But you cannot fail; it is universally ordained, you will succeed. Evolution is evolution. I wrote before about how the ego tries to hold you back and I will touch on it again.

It would seem to me that it is time for people to come together for the creation of healing communities. As the old world collapses and the new world emerges, there will be many lost souls that will need help adjusting. Many people will struggle physically and emotionally; they won't be sure what to believe or who to turn to. I, actually, don't think there will be many survival issues. Greed in not a value among ordinary folk and most of us are willing to give, every thing we can, to help our neighbors.

Sitting in my little piece of paradise, I don't know to what extent communities are forming. The people in our area are aware, that we need to be available to help each other, in case grocery store shelves become barren. In a farming community that is an issue fairly easy to solve. One of our neighbors has talked about supplying milk for the neighborhood. We could supply eggs and Jamie plans on going into cheese production on a larger scale. The emotional, intellectual, medical etc. needs of a world in transition is a different story.

Think about it.

Well my dishes are waiting for me.

THE NEW MOON

We just received an inch of much appreciated rain [which wasn't in the forecast]. Our electricity was down for a couple hours; I intended to write this morning, so much for planning. This Summer has been one social affair after another. There have been weddings, anniversaries, graduations and this Sunday, a family reunion. I hope things settle down after that.

I can't help keeping track of the moon phases, because I always have a dip in my emotional well being around the New Moon. I noticed it about thirty years ago when I experienced an elevation of mood upon seeing the first sliver of moon. Since then I have realized that my mood takes a nose dive right around the time of the New Moon; usually mild, sometimes not so. It is as if my energy contracts. I am sure there are other folks who have this experience.

The main stream media continues to portray a world gone mad. The powers that be are trying desperately to create conflict all over the world. They seem to want to start another world war in order to keep the war machine cranked up and the money flowing in to their coffers. They touch on the banking scandals, but the stories lack the depth that they need and the exploration of the criminality involved is slight.

There is good news from other sources. Apparently, there have been some arrest and criminal investigations are going forward. I await the real first breakthrough of news in the MSM.

Us folks, out in the hinterland, shouldn't waste our time following the disintegration of the old world anyway. We have a new world to create. We need lots of celebrations! Dancing in the streets! Everyday we need to look around to find something new to celebrate. Explore our wonderful world with unending curiosity and infinite love. Maybe, we can even get Gaia to do something about the mosquitoes.

I am a little behind today since I used the power outage time to sit and recharge my batteries.

FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH

This is a lucky day! My first child was born on Friday the Thirteenth. A beautiful child and a marvelous adult. That was fifty two years ago in June. Speaking of time, has it been speeding up for you? I retired in 2000 and these last twelve years have gone by so fast. I realize time speeds up as you grow older, but this is ridiculous. The illusion of time is usually the first thing people accept, about this illusion, we think of as reality. Even as children we are impressed by the subjectiveness of time. Have you waited for a bus on a cold windy day? You look at your watch, your sure twenty minutes has elapsed, yet, your watch shows only five minutes. When your a child, the Summer last forever. There is a point in Mid-Summer where you can't remember any other season; Summer is endless. I have had that feeling rather late in my life, but these last few years Summer has been fleeting.

Now I accept the idea of time speeding up as a good thing. We are coming closer to seeing the end of duality. We are coming closer to realizing that everything we experience is an illusion. It is an illusion we have been creating, all along, with our thoughts.

For centuries teachers have been born on this Earth who taught us just that. I don't need to name them. You know them. Generally their messages have been distorted to control the people. There were always people who listened to the truth of the messages. There has always been gatherings of true seekers in ashrams, temples, monasteries, nunneries etc., all over the world; but even in their environment they amounted to a sprinkling compared to the whole.

In the last hundred years and especially in the last fifty years, people have been waking up in huge numbers. They are not only waking up to the idea that they create the World with their thought, but they see how our thoughts have been controlled by groups of folks for their own self interest. They use fear to keep us captive and to cause endless war and separation.

The consciousness of man has increased to the point where the controllers are losing their grip. It is over. We are free. It will take awhile for us to see it. Each one of us can help greatly by ignoring any message, that you get from anywhere, that invites you to fear. Any News message, any message from the government, from gossipy neighbors, from anywhere. Be especially aware of any message that invites you to judge another; individual or group.

We create the World we live in with our thoughts. As we grow in love, it will be reflected in the world we see. There are people gathering together with the purpose of joining their minds together to facilitate this evolution. Sometimes this joining is quite conscious, they are determined to see paradise under their feet. In other cases, the group is pursuing some other goal, an organic gardening community, a new way of educating children, a new approach to health care etc., their goal is a loving world, just the same.

My dishes were washed by a beautiful family member. I am free to pursue some other activity. Hmmmm  I haven't had a nap yet.

SUMMERTIME

This morning I was sitting out by the barn. The sheep pasture on one side and an enclosure for my broilers on the other. The broilers are temporarily fenced in, but they are on a lush mixture of weeds and grass; when they get a few weeks older and not a magnet for feral cats, I will open the gate and they will have the run of the known world. I shut them in the barn at night to protect them from the night predators. The foxes and coyotes seem most dangerous at dawn and dusk.

I was sitting there with most of my attention on the chickens, they are so full of enthusiasm for life. They run, they jump, they chase each other, they have mock fights, they catch bugs on the weeds, they eat grass, they pause to drink and they cock their head and look at me, as if to wonder, who that big daddy chicken is on the other side of the fence. Must be a metaphor here somehow.

Despite the baaing of the sheep, they like my attention, and the chicken noises, it is easy to drift into a meditation. The morning was cool, no mosquitoes for a change and for a little while I could experience a quiet mind, devoid of the clamor of the ego. I make a practice of having these little meditations whenever I can. According to my sources of inspiration, the vibration is very high and help is readily available. There is an urgency in the message, implying a great spiritual upliftment on the horizon. The implication is that it is time to turn away from the demands of our egos and listen to our higher selves, our intuition.

Unfortunately, our egos do not give up gracefully, they constantly invite us to worry {in anyway were vulnerable}. The ego focuses on any kind of perceived lack and exaggerates it way out of proportion. The ego will draw your attention to your body wants and give them an urgency they don't have. As you grow and listen to the ego less, it in turn becomes frightened that you won't need it, and its defense, is to attack you and make your life as miserable as possible.

Understand that the ego is not inherently evil. It comes to represent evil when it personifies separateness. When we decided to have this experience in bodies, and experiment with what it feels like to be separate, we made the ego to help us negotiate. It was an aid in negotiating a separate existence. It was a tool of the mind and a useful one indeed. Somewhere in our evolution, as we lost touch with source, the ego became dominate and portrayed itself as the fount of knowledge and wisdom. Instead of being a tool to help us live in this strange and dense world, it became a tyrant, attempting to rule the mind. Of course, it is completely inept at this task. Fortunately, most of us pay attention to our egos, only some of the time, and put a higher value on our intuition.

Meditation is a way of clearing the mind of the clamor of the ego. In some way or another it is necessary. It certainly doesn't have to be a formal meditation, however, one can meditate while weeding the garden, washing dishes, playing or listening to music. The goal is to clear the mind and make it available to inspiration from our higher selves.

If I understand it correctly, mankind is on the threshold of a new evolutionary step where we are about to experience reality without duality. We will learn to experience, without filtering everything through judgement. We will begin to SEE. What we will see will be paradise.

Time to do my dishes and a little meditation.

Love and Peace,  Gregg

A SUMMER MORNING

We finally get a cool start to our day. It is incredibly beautiful this morning. The animals clearly respond positively to the change in temperature. We have fifty broilers that are about a month old; they are really fun to watch. They run around with such exuberance. They exult in being alive. I have only recently allowed them free range, as we have a couple hungry cats that scout this neighborhood. They will still be vulnerable for about a week; but I really don't think the cats are that hungry, they look well fed. I don't think anybody owns them as they are around here most of the time; but, there are many rodents around to keep them happy.

While I enjoy my little piece of Paradise, the world burns. Can the financial system stand another banking scandal? There are more on the horizon. You might be tired of me saying it, but the end is near. The cabal is coming down and according to several folks on the internet, arrest of the culprits has begun. It will be a relief when the media begins to report what's going on.

I have been having this conversation in my head lately, about the influence of money in government. When did it become okay to equate money with speech and give its use in politics protection under the constitution? The Citizens United decision was the culmination of a trend that has been going on for over fifty years; I think. Several years ago, the Supreme Court made a ruling that equated money with speech, I need to look that up if I am going to have a complete understanding.

However, what I do understand is that the decision was asinine! What were they thinking? Was there an uproar at the time? Did anybody predict what would happen? Since money is what divides us the most and creates the greatest inequality, how could any sane person believe it equates with free speech? Since the constitution states we are free and equal; how can a group of supposedly educated people claim that a millionaire has the same influence in politics as a person making minimum wage? Even without this sell-out by the court, the rich have always had way, way, way way, more power than the average citizen. Now that they can openly buy elections, democracy becomes a joke. Of course, they have been doing it since time began, but at least they had to pretend, before.

I ask again, "How can people be equal, when a person with more money is given a louder voice?" On the face of it, those court decisions have made a mockery of the constitution and the bill of rights.

Perhaps it is good to make the hidden obvious, as folks need to wake up to what has been going on for a very long time.

When I put my mind to the here and now, all that I see is beauty. There is deep peace and love in beauty.

HEAT WAVE

We are experiencing a July 4th heat wave. I feel like I am living in a bubble because we have the air conditioning on, which is a rarity. We have a geothermal heat pump which converts to cooling in the Summer. We rarely use the cooling function because our house generally cools off at night, even when it gets to ninety during the day. During this particular time, it is not cooling off at night. One hot, sleepless night and the air conditioning goes on. It is 95F right now and muggy.

Jamie remarked that my last blog seemed painful. I don't remember it that way. When you waltz with the ego, you are going to get thrown in the muck, but I know how to lift myself up; downturns are only momentary or at least they need not be longer.

Keep in mind that a teacher only teaches what he or she is trying to learn. And the world has it backward; the teacher always learns more than his students {listeners, readers}. The teacher learns from everything that comes out of his mouth {typewriter etc.} plus the reflection from those the teaching is aimed at. The fact that the teacher is determined to learn gives the message its passion and urgency. This is, also, true with classroom teaching; although in that case the teacher's learning could be in a whole myriad of areas in human interaction, not just the official class subject.

I just read a reinterpretation of the Eden story. In this version, man was not kicked out of paradise. He just quit seeing it because he embraced ego. The serpent in the story is ego; the conveyor of judgement, of better or worse, of separateness etc. It is all perception. We see what we believe. We can't live in paradise as long as we choose ego as our co-creator.

According to this interpretation of the myth, we have never left paradise. We just need to perceive it correctly. We begin to do this when we turn from our ego and face the unconditional love that is our make-up. We then see what the world really is, we find that we have not left paradise.

The best way to realize the love in yourself is to practice seeing it in everyone else. The more you see love in your neighbor the more it flows from you. As your perception of love increases the greater the glimpse of paradise.

The raising of the consciousness, through this process, will bring about great changes in the world. Already, the old world is crumbling. There are already amazing changes taking place behind the scenes. When the media becomes more free we will be astounded at what has already taken place.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July celebration.

THE HARD WORK

We have been busy! A son's wedding, a graduation party, a son and grandson visiting from California, an anniversary party and trying to keep up the homestead.

I wish I could say that was the only reason I haven't blogged. However, there is a bigger and more nebulous reason. I have been discouraged about my own path and my progress towards enlightenment. It is a trap you don't want to fall into. You can't try to be enlightened. Oh boy; does the ego like that. Trying puts the ego in the drivers seat! You will soon get a glimpse of hell.

The problem is the energy is high. All of us, who want to see Love take over on Earth, can feel it. It seems that we should be doing something. It feels like there is not much time to get our act together. It is easy for us to see our imperfections and not always easy to see our progress.

But it is unlearning, not learning, we must do. You can't try to unlearn. You must release the past and its unloving constructs. Give up those old ways of thinking; see what is in the now. For generations the typical way of reaching enlightenment was through meditation; emptying the mind and experiencing the well of peace that exist in our beings. There are many pathways, many traditions; they all lead to oneness, to the knowing that love is everything and nothing else is.

In my eagerness to find peace, as a permanent experience, I made a conscious vow to give up the past. I do know better! My ego said, "Oh is that right". I found new ways to torture myself. Sometimes I felt like I was under attack. Negativity in the form of self-critical thoughts would seem to come out of  nowhere.

Yes, we need to give up the past. We need to gently release it. We need to give up all the negativity of the past and, also, our past glories. It is not that we will forget the past; but, when it does come to our mind it will not carry an emotional charge. We first must forgive ourselves for all our imagined transgressions and remind ourselves, that they are over, when they reappear in our thought stream. When they appear you may observe them and gently release them. If the same ones keep coming back, look at the emotion that is attached; allow yourself to feel it and know it is an illusion. It is not real and you don't need it.

We need to accept where we are at. Know that we are love. The ego will get between you and loving yourself as soon as you 'try'. Trying will always imply judgement. I don't like to play with words, put you can have will and determination without the trap of trying. Undoing.........undoing.......undoing.... it needs peace, relaxation, letting things be. One of the best ways of undoing is laughter and more laughter. After all, our foibles are really funny when brought to light. Our self-criticisms can be a cause for a good belly-laugh.

Love and life is now. I often sit and observe my animals; chickens, sheep, turkeys and goats as they go about their business. They don't seem to be thinking of anything. They react only to their direct experience. They exude a kind of peace that enhances my meditative experience. Trees seem to exude even a deeper peace. I often wonder what it would be like to be a tree, my roots deeply implanted in the Earth, my branches soaring to Heaven.

I will to be more faithful in my blogging.

Love and Peace, Gregg
